staningrimsby Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Hi Everyone, I came so close to purchasing Meraki for my school when I decided to look at the Ruckus solution, it does come in a lot cheaper and they will do a free wireless survey for me then leave me with some of the equipment to trial. I plan to install an AP in each classroom and when I spoke to sthe supplier he said it was a bit of overkill I had to correct him and say it was future proof, but my question is for an average size classroom which AP's should I be looking at as I want to make sure if we do this investment I want it to work. Thanks in advance, Stan.
Steven_Cleaver Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Have you had a look at Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-PRO very scaleable and might save you some money a few people on here a raving about these Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-PRO 3 Pack, just ordered a set to have a look at.
bazil2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 We've just install about 27 of the Unifi AP's and they are excellent. It comes with a really easy to use software and utility. Would recommend them, even got one at home!!
TheScarfedOne Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 As with everything - it depends how you want to use it. If you want a high density, with high numbers of concurrent devices, with high throughput - then aggregating connections back to your cabled network by having a high number of aps with their broadcase strength turned down is actually quite a good and scalable solution. This is not far off what Im doing. There are lots of satisfied Ruckus customers on here, as well as many other vendors. Lets not turn this thread into a manufacturer vs manufacturer thread. If you want a good comparison between performance of vendor products, there was a study done by a member and there is a Toms Hardware Guide report somewhere too. The best thing to do would be to get trial kit on site though to test which works best in your environment
