ThinStation Problem - Getting Global Configuration

Hi,

 

I am setting up ThinStation for the first time in a VMware environment.

 

I am loosely following these instructions. - http://thinstation.sourceforge.net/docs/HowTo-NetBoot.txt

 

I am using Windows DHCP on Server 2008 R2 and using PXE boot.

 

I am getting the attached. It seems to be wanting to get some configuration from 172.16.117.254

 

What am i doing wrong please?

What is 172.16.117.254?

 

Is it running TFTPd? (with firewall exclusion)

I have no idea where that has actually come from. The IP range is a class A range. The firewalls are all off.

 

I can see activity in the TFTP server.

 

My terminal server IP is 10.10.10.1

It's getting the IP from somewhere, what is your DHCP configuration looking like?

 

Wouldn't worry about your Terminal Server at this point, it's not got as far as that yet.

I cant see anything in DHCP that would cause this.

 

I have attached my thinstation.conf.network file as well as some screenshots.

EDIT: I left it for a while now its trying to get the config from another location

I used these instructions and its still looking for that ip address. You can just about see it in the attached screenshot.

Ha fixed it. It was VMware Fusion causing the issue. This sorted it

 

Disabling VMWare Fusion's inbuilt DHCP Server

Hi,

In the intruction, you use Windows 2K8 as DHCP but in our environment I am using Cisco device to assign IP to our client. Any idea for my case.

I would open another thread asking how you would set these settings in DHCP.

Today, i ask a network administrator, the cisco device in my company doesn't support dhcp option 66 and 67.

Hi FN-GM,

I have a issue when my client booting up by using PXE:

"Error, no valid session type!!!

Boot aborted, please check your thinstation config files are correct"

I use Thinstation for VMware View user and i do the same thing in the instruction. Please, help me.
