After trying endlessly to ghost some SIS900 network card (4Front PCs), I’ve seen that you can ghost a PC with the image on a CD's or DVD (DVD would be best because the image is 15GB), but how do I get the image on to the CD's? Because it corrupts if I put it over the network to the server. So what I’m asking is if anyone knows of free software which I can create an image directly to CD or DVD which is free or full trial?

yes, Ghost itself does it...you'll need the drivers for the drive I think, but if you look at the help in Ghost, it should tell you how.

This holds thrue for (I'm sure) 6.x to 11.0.1 (which I'm using).

If not from ghost, you can tell ghost to split the image into chunks..say 640mb (CD), and then burn them with a normal CD app.

Hi,

SirBenny is right, you can ask ghost to split the image into DVD sized chunks then burn these chunks to DVD, run ghost as normal then just load the first image of the first DVD, when this image has completed it will prompt you for the second etc etc etc....

If I was struggling with these and ghosting over the network was ruled out I would try the following.

1 - Create an automated Ghost image DVD using a master image, sysprepped or your tool of choice. Still means going to all of the machines individually but you wont have to sit through the installs/re-imaging.

2 - Create an automated Ghost image on a USB stick, USB stick might have the added bonus of being able to add your answer files for the mini setup.

I do have the details for creating automated Ghost CD/DVD's some where if needed. Its something I play with quite a lot but I am far from an expert with it.

I’ve put the hard drive in to another PC & locally imaged the hard drive to a folder on the other PC. It has 8 files in the folder ghost.gho and ghost001.ghs - ghost007.ghs. I’ve burned them to 8 CD’s I put the one with ghost.gho in the pc, started the pc loaded up ghost. gone to local -> disk -> from image. But then I get an error saying it is not the first disk. Also tried the ghost001.ghs :(
