Didn't know that, but it explains a restriction we have with a reverse proxy solution that servers multiple sites. I assumed the host address was presented to the server in the initial handshake. (lesson for today, never assume.) Cheers, Jay

Have you tried configuring different certificates for each location using in https.conf? (never tried it, but can't see why it wouldn't work.) You could also use a wildcard certificate which would cover *.blah.com, makes things easier as well as cheaper assuming all your virtual hosts are of the format [host].blah.com.

A better way would be to rewrite the custom error page to redirect, or (if the 403 error code permits a URL) simply send the user to the https page. By turning off "Require SSL", users could remove the s from https and get unencrypted access (why they would I don't know, but they could). J

For HTTP/HTTPS you could configure a reverse proxy (Apache or similar) to handle multiple host addresses via a single IP, this also gives you additional security as the proxy is the server exposed to the net.

Check you have the networking in bridged mode so that ESX acts as a gateway for the two server networking cards. PS: Assuming the vSwitch is similar to VMWare server, not used ESX yet.

Enlarging the subnet mask should affect anything currently in place. Your machines on 192.168.0.X will still be able to talk to anything else on 192.168.0.X. You only need to worry if you make the mask smaller.

at the risk of sounding daft, have you cleared the XP machines DNS cache?

Its worth being aware that CAT5e etc and others are not only used for ethernet. Some of the remote VoIP and Video kit I've seen can pump 240v down them. (Hopefully low amperage) Here is one audio thingy as an example: Cambridge Audio (only cause I want it in my house) Edit: Upon rereading, I'm not 100% sure if the PSU is at the other end, so it might not be as high as 240v, I can't recall from memory.
