DalekSec Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 Hi All, We've had a problem since we've got back from the summer with all our AD Joined macs. When going to the internet via Safari you get a proxy pop-up saying 'Proxy Authentication Required' 'Enter the password for the HTTP Proxy ----- in system preferences', then it pop ups with a username and password field. Once you put this in it saves it in the proxy details for that Mac, so everyone will have to do it on every new Mac they log in to. I've spoken with our firewall supplier and they are as baffled as me and think it's a bug in Safari (i don't think it is). I've done the testing on the following and had same results: MBP with High Sierra, Safari 12.0, on Mosyle MDM. Tried with and without restrictions. iMac with Mavericks, Safari 9.1.3, not on the MDM. No restrictions. Anyone else came across this problem?
Marci Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 Same problem here using Smoothwall. All our Macs now use forms auth, which I detest (not my call: I'm not IT Support, I'm Web Development, but I'm the only staff member in the school who uses a Mac as main machine).

Marci Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Have you tried disabling IPv6 completely on yonder Macs via... sudo networksetup -setv6off Wi-fi sudo networksetup -setv6off Ethernet ? Just done so on mine and things seem to be behaving themselves for now...
free780 Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 @DalekSec Are you using NTLM? If so switch to Kerebos and see if you still get the prompts? Make sure the time is in sync with a DC.
