Script To Delete Multiple Occurrences Of Given Text From Registry

I am updating a station image that no longer requires SIMS. I have uninstalled SIMS as normal.

 

I decided to have a look at the Registry and found that there are references to SIMS littered all over the place! [Too many to delete manually]

 

I remember seeing a script somewhere to force uninstall Sophos and clean up the Registry. I can't find that script now but I wondered if anyone had a script already to search and delete all references to:

 

C:\Program Files\SIMS

 

This would help no end.

Don't they have a pre made bat file in the sims directory to remove sims including removal of registry entries ?

I have just checked another station with SIMS still installed. Found no batch files. I am going to check the SIMS server. What is the BAT file called?

 

Edit: Found nothing of note on the server either.

ok not sure then - ref a script is it throughout the whole registry or is it just in the hkey current user or where exactly ?

It seems to be everywhere!

 

Can't supply detail right now. I have to rush out. I will update this post when I get back.

The first occurrence is at:

 

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\

 

[i have removed all of the entries that came before this]

 

Next 'branch'

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

 

No entries after this. However I have already removed numerous entries further up the Registry and I don't know how many more I have to go!
