Authentication on RICOH Printer

Anybody having success using Windows Authentication on a RICOH MFD?

 

We have the RICOH Aficio MP C3000 that has just been set up with Windows Authentication, and at least 50% of the time authentication fails when logging in at the console.

Its on our Win2008 network. I have checked network connections and all is well.

 

Suggestion, anyone?

In comparison to the copiers 2008 uses NTLMv2 so maybe worth while - assuming you are ok with it and it is not a security risk change the authentication level to use NTLMv1 or NTLMv2 if negotiated through the security policy on the server ( control panel --> administrative tools --> security )

 

Client, service, and program incompatibilities that may occur when you modify security settings and user rights assignments

 

Also ensure date / time and the time zone on the copier are all correct and that the copier is joined to the correct domain either the FQDN if the text field allows you to enter the FQDN, or the abrievated one ( cant remember the techy term for it now lol ) ie instead of my.some.domain.com it would be my-domain

 

There is a guide at work that I have for setting up windows authentication which I can get just to make sure it is setup correctly.

 

Also I presume it is windows authentication you are trying to setup or what are you trying to achieve exactly ?

 

The current help desk number is 01604 666 362 - may be worth while giving them a shout ( making sure you have the serial number of the copier )

Thanks for your reply. Seems like it was the Domain name.

When Windows was chosen as the method for User Authentication, the Printer auto populated the domain field with 'domainname.org'

Having changed it to the Pre-win2000 version: 'domain' .. it seems to be fine with that. So far so good
