This is strange.

Set up 2 dhcp boxes on the guest wireless to replace proxies. Proxies no longer needed, only dhcp to hand out county addresses.

First one works fine. Its a debian base install with only isc-dhcp-server, dnstools, ntfs-3g, dhcpstatus & ssh. It's super quick on a dual core HP workstation!

the second one is a failover handing out the 2nd half of our allocated range. I was writing the documentation whilst I did that one. Sort of a record of how to set another up if something happened to me.

for some reason I can't fathom, dns lookups have stopped working on the 2nd one. I can ping the router, the 1st server, but not the upstream dns, which also i means I can't install ssh as now the repository won't resolve.

It was working before as I managed to install everything upto and including ntfs-3g from the internet and dhcpstatus copied off usb. Configured dhcpd.conf, interfaces and dhcpstatus. Been scratching my head for an hour at least.

Oh my god I put gatway in the interfaces file

I looked at that like 3 times and didn't notice....

It's a miracle more things haven't "gone wrong", the number of times having to unjam printers, replace cables and the such in classrooms whilst I been doing this!
