I have been told by one of our resellers that the Department of Education has not yet signed the new select agreement for schools so as a result schools will not be able to avail of select pricing once the contracts signed by schools under the (now defunct) Becta agreement expires. Hello, I recently upgraded our server to Windows Server 2008 R2. I would like to create a NEW blank database for SIMS. I ran SIMSINST v1.21.3.0 and when it was just installing MSDE 2000 it said that it was incompatible with the operating system and that it needed to be run on Windows NT 4.0, Xp or 98. Is there a different version of Microsoft SQL that is freely available and compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 and SIMSINST v1.21.3.0. If so, how would I create a database for SIMSINST or will

Just had a problem where our thin nComputing L300 clients went blank.
The Multipoint Server 2011 said that nComputing was corrupt.
I went to reinstall nComputing but I got an error Failed install: HydraTS/HbHydrats getlasterror 0x2
The problem was that the filewall was preventing the install. I turned the filewall off, the install went fine, picked up the old configuration and licencing and the thin clients came back up.

As a browser nomad, I find it hard to keep up-to-date with extensions and remembering to install even the basics when I jump from one browser to another. In the case of my work computer I have no say in the matter, but at home I have used no less then four different browsers since installing my OS. Another diversion from my usual blog posts - but this one came out of necessity, when I had issues with my SQL databases for SIMS and FMS. Many of you may know that FMS has its own "SQL" logins, as does SIMS - but at least with that, you can set it to use Windows Authentication.
Anyway, my problem - I was greeted by FMS with the lovely "Cannot rollback atomic" error whenever logging in. It turns out this error (after some digging) has lots of causes - none of them really to do with SIMS or FM
