    MDT 2012 Update 1 & XP Deployment

    Hello all,

I am having issues trying to 'sysprep & capture' XP images using MDT2012 U1.

Whatever I seem to do, the 'sysprep and capture' task sequence never seems to do anything ... When I run 'litetouch.wsf' and select task sequence on the donor machine, the marquee box appears for a few seconds, but the sysprep process never starts.

I have made sure that the sysprep files are included on c:\. The task sequence seems to generate the correct answer file. However, the machine reboots, having neither sypreped or been captured.

    Any ideas ?

This a first time thing? Or have you captured/deployed with XP before?

And this is XP Pro yes?

This is first time with XP (yes - pro)

I have plenty of experience with MDT and Windows 7. However, this server is new, in a new school, so started from scratch in that sense. Unfortunately cant pump out win 7 yet.

Copy out the rules and then try, I can't see anything that might mess it up but I have been wrong before.

    Thanks mate,

I have gone one step further, and created a new deployment share with default rules.. but the problem persists. I have discovered a workaround:

    - Run sysprep & capture, to generate the answerfile.
    - Manually run sysprep
    - Capture using imagex on PE.
    - Import the captured OS and add to task sequence.

This works (it deploys correctly), so kind of solves the problem. Just a little annoying that the cpature sequence doesn't work.

Glad you found a workaround, I have often found winXP and Win7 do not make great bedfellows.
