Resurrecting a dead old thread but just with an update as I've tried to get things setup on the Windows 2008 R2 domain and had similar lack of joy.. The simplest work-around for any of these old printers is to plugin a memory stick/card in the appropriate front right slot and use the "scan to memory device" option.

Recently upgraded but came up against a few things regarding mod_security so see below if you get something similar. Apache 2.2.24 Subversion 1.7.9 cd /home/downloads/svn wget http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/subversion-1.7.9.tar.gz tar xfvz subversion-1.7.9.tar.gz cd subversion-1.7.9 sh get-deps.sh cd neon ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/neon make make install cd .. ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-apr=/usr/local/apache/bin/apr-1-config --with-apr-util=/home/cpeasyapache/src/httpd-2.2.24/srclib/apr-util --with-neon=/usr/local/neon/ --with-ssl make make install The Mod_Security quirk was down to the rules I had in a custom.conf for apache... DAV svn SVNParentPath /home/foo/svn/dev # Our ACL (Access Control Policy) AuthzSVNAccessFile /home/foo/svn/svnaccess # Try anonymous access first, then usernames if required. Satisfy Any Require valid-user AuthType Basic AuthName "My Dev Repos" AuthUserFile /home/foo/svn/passwd # Blanket approach (disable if possible) #SecRuleEngine Off # SubVersion Rules to allow through #SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(PROPFIND|PROPPATCH)$" allow "id:1234123456" #SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(REPORT|OPTIONS)$" "id:1234123457,allow" #SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(MKACTIVITY|CHECKOUT)$" "id:1234123458,allow" #SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(PUT|DELETE|MERGE)$" "id:1234123459,allow" #SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(MKCOL)$" allow "id:1234123460,allow" Now the code above is now disabled because it seems Mod_Security has included a subversion exception/rule as standard now but the code above caused me some problems because of two things: 1. Mod_security now requires a unique_id for each rule, which CPanel appears to have helpfully applied to each of my custom rules... 2. The syntax has changed from the pre Mod_Sec 2.7 type: SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(PROPFIND|PROPPATCH)$" allow ..to this: SecRule REQUEST_METHOD "^(PROPFIND|PROPPATCH)$" "id:1234123456,allow" As you can see in my example above I've disabled the workaround as it doesn't appear to be required anymore but it might catch you out if you've been getting errors like this:

Not had a huge amount of time to diagnose anything hence the forum post to check if I was alone or not, but good idea... I'll see what I can break out..

Appreciate the reply even if it wasn't quite what I'd hoped for... Unfortunately at present I'm locked into IE8 due to a specific add-on that isn't forward compatible so until I've finished some work to make the add-on redundant I'm a little stuck. Bit odd though and wondering if it has anything to do with the recent Winupdate hiccup but so far nothing critical to worry about... *waits for sky to fall in*

Found today that for some reason Internet Explorer 8 (running on Win 7 - 64bit) suddenly doesn't like accessing my c:\users\[user]\desktop folder and comes up with error: "[path]" is not accessible. The direct name is invalid" Yet, I can use explorer to access the Desktop folder, I can use the exact same site on Firefox (ver 19.0.2) and have no problems whatsoever. About the only thing I can think that's changed is that a bunch of AutoUpdates were applied when I booted up this morning so I'm guessing there's some kind of security update that has restricted access to IE8 or similar but can't conclusively prove either way. All resources pertaining to the error indicate disk corruption, Group policy setting or ACL's but as yet I can't find anything that might hint at the issue... If I find anything else I'll post back but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears... Cheers, Martin

Just as quick rule of thumb... When you buy the printer cheap the consumables are almost invariably seriously expensive so it's worth rethinking the budget to buy something a bit more hefty on the initial cost but gives you greater savings on the consumables. Don't get suckered into the idea of toner being the only consumable either.. There's often a drum, any other component parts that have a set shelf life that can quickly turn a "bargain" into a money pit. For what it's worth, it's well worth considering some of the newer Epson Workforce Pro (WP) models. They may be inkjets but they have much larger ink cartridges and maintenance cartridges so you can swap out the waste pads as well. There's a few schools I know using the B-510DN's as well with refillable cartridges and bulk inks saving an absolute ton of money. The trade off on the latter is a learning curve for whoever has to maintain it but unlike many earlier inkjets these things are designed to be much less hassle. As for A3's the slightly older Brother inkjet printers aren't photo quality output but are easily adapted to take CIS systems and feedback indicates they can do a fair bit of work. May be useful for some...

If changing the "print background colours and images" tickbox makes a difference then it's likely that your target tracker is using encoding that quantifies the green colour as "Background" somehow. I was going to say a common one for this sort of problem is when users tick the "monotone / monochrome" option in the print driver but I suspect you found the problem.

Thought it might be... Seems there's 250 and 500 page varieties so you'll want to check the tray for a part number... This looks like it could be a winner though... HP Colour LaserJet 3000 3600 3800 Replacement 250 Paper Tray Cassette | eBay They've a phone number too so at least you could check what your options are.
-
Does the tray have a part number? If you could check the one you subb'd in as well as the part number may be different but easier to source... EDIT: Oh and do you mean a 3600? I can't find any reference to a 360 model

Thought I'd share this one as I'm on a very expensive net connection from my business centre unit and a review of costs indicated I was using a ton of bandwidth unnecessarily thanks to DFS replication between home and unit servers and the way I was updating a few things. First the script: @ECHO off DEL /F /S /Q %TEMP% DEL /F /S /Q "%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\*.ipsw" DEL /F /S /Q "%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\*.ipsw.signature" RMDIR /S /Q "%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" MKDIR "%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" This script was set as a logoff script for all domain users via GP. Now a few things you need to know about my setup and what I've changed. I no longer do any iTunes backups of my iPhone or iOS updates using my Unit workstation If I do, it's via a local machine account, not a domain account (with roaming profile) The code above will wipe any backups and updates from a domain account A few other things I changed (other than wiping the temp folder of rubbish at logoff) is to change the download location for any web browsers to a local disk rather than the default {profile}/download folder. This in itself saves a lot of unnecessary dross being replicated. At a guess it's going to drop my overall net usage considerably but I'll update again if/when I discover any other tweaks that might help...

Small nugget... If your Apache version and Subversion version are still the same but you want to update say PHP to in Cpanel.. . Ensure you have disabled the include editor LoadModule lines (as per earlier posts) & restarted Apache. Use EasyApache as normal and ensure you are indeed leaving your apache version alone during the update Run this code: cd /home/downloads/svn/subversion-1.7.5 make make install Re-enable the LoadModule lines Restart Apache

Just one small point... Not all schools, heads, governors, or staff are equal... There are different challenges, levels of engagement, etc... in each... With a wife still teaching but doing supply in secondary, I get to hear of the huge range in behaviour, policies, headteachers attitudes, etc. If you're in a single school for years at a time, without a great deal of direct experience of others it's very difficult to avoid comparing all schools to your experience in the same way that parents seem to draw on a 18+ year old experience and try to apply it to their childrens own experience now. Personally I wouldn't have a problem with inspections if they came without the obvious political agendas or outrageous expectations. Unfortunately it seems like the whole process is nothing but a rubber stamp exercise to push privatisation, undermine teachers, headteachers and state education rather than a supportive measure similar to the audit approach being discussed for IT. Wouldn't a constructive crit' approach make a world of difference?

That time again... DFS - conflicting site associations - IPv6?
contink replied to contink's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Well... Somehow it resolved itself once I disabled offline folders in the GPO and rebooted... However, just in case it was more than just that.. I also went through and: - set ownership on the shared folder and sub-folders/files - disabled the home folder setting for the affected user profile Now the network location is accessible properly... No closer to understanding the exact cause but whatever it was, I'm glad the gremlins quit... -
DFS - conflicting site associations - IPv6?
contink replied to contink's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Situation deteriorating rapidly now and I'm completely out of my depth... I've wiped my cache of offline files and now any attempt to use, open or connect to the mapped network drives is resulting in an instant "offline folder" no longer connected fail. Can anyone help because right now this is 36 hours and counting and I'm up sh*t creek minus paddle or canoe... -

DFS - conflicting site associations - IPv6?
contink replied to contink's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Ugh!! Think I know what's going on now... It's likely that this is absolutely dip doodly squat to do with DFS but with my anti-virus catching things in the CSC offline files cache and removing them directly (huge no-no) thus corrupting my offline files cache... The alerts happened a few days ago and tally with when things started to go pear shaped so it makes some sense... Not confirmed as yet but about to do a complete reinitialisation of the cache to see if that cures it... Why I didn't think of this before... Well... more flippin' fool me eh? ... Gah! -
DFS - conflicting site associations - IPv6?
contink replied to contink's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Updating this as I've had some success, other hurdles to resolve and then returned to the base problem... 1. I updated both servers to use IPv6 and immediately the ::1 was resolved but in its place it's now reporting the local-link address as not being mapped, which is just as nuts as the ::1 earlier because it's not a routable address. 2. I forgot that I'm using 2x Smoothwall boxes to link between my sites and this is not IPv6 compatible so of course that resulted in the various services trying to use IPv6 to communicate with each other and failing... Set IPv4 as the preferred and of course then discovered that while that resolved replication issues there was no link between DNS on the two units... obviously they use IPv6 to communicate and verify. so... 3. Disabled IPv6 all over again and we're back to square one... Overall I think the DFSDIAG error is a red herring and the real problem is something else within the network, possibly physical connectivity or something related to my VMWare setup that is dropping packets, or otherwise borking things... Either way it's [beep]ing frustrating and stopping me from actually being able to work... So, back to anyone with any thoughts... [best_penelope_pitstop_impression] Heeeeeeyyyyuuuulllllpppppp!! I've spent all day trying to debug this particular nasty and as yet I'm no closer to understanding wtf is going on. DFS is setup with two sites connected over VPN... Until recently it's been working brilliantly but all of a sudden my workstation was continually hitting problems with regular disconnects and dropping to work offline when outlook was being opened (lot of stuff in there). I suspect the problem is down to this particular error: Validating site associations... Validating the site associations on every domain controller of the following: DC1 Warning: The server has IP addresses with conflicting site associations Host name: DC1 Site: Unit Domain controller: DC1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Host IP address Subnet-SiteMapping in AD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ::1 No mapping exists ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Warning: The server has IP addresses with conflicting site associations Host name: DC1 Site: Unit Domain controller: DC2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Host IP address Subnet-SiteMapping in AD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ::1 No mapping exists ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Success: The site associated with the following host name is consistent on all a ccessible domain controllers: DC1 Now that IP address is the equivalent of localhost in IPv6 but this has been disabled both in the network properties for DC1's LAN settings and also via the registry using this: ... something I've tried in various ways but to null effect... I suspect the problem is that the localhost isn't affected by this setting and for whatever reason something somewhere is assigning DC1 with the ::1 IP.. Further info' comes from when I do lookup from the Nameservers tab it will resolve DC1 to the IPv4 address and the ::1 address that's giving me the headache... If I do a DOS nslookup for DC1 it will only return the IPv4 value... I'm really at my wits end so any help would be really appreciated...

No idea either but I'm suffering from the exact same issue myself and it's only appeared in the last few weeks after various updates... Tried disabling IPv6 and various other things but to no avail... and I suspect this is what's causing regular issues with my PC dropping offline without warning and then showing available again... Driving me spare!

The irony of this message is not lost on me as, 6 months ago, I had about 50 of these blasted things but in the process of "having a clear out" I managed to toss the lot without keeping a couple back. The requirement is for the 4 pin IEEE 1394 female port that'll connect to the motherboard... If it's of any help the motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 Thanks in advance...

Had this today and thought I'd just share one possible cause as it really borked me for a couple of hours until I spotted a small discrepancy. I opted to do a managed cleanup and move of my server and my primary workstation as there's been a lot of dust, hair, etc and this is the time of year to do all those "one day" jobs.... Anyway, after shutting everything down properly, cleaning up, reorganising cable, etc... I booted up and found that all my DFS shares were unavailable... When I checked the Server 2k8R2 via RDP I found that there was an error in the system log: I rebooted a couple of times but still no joy... It was only when I realised that the system log was indicating a time approximately 5 minutes ahead before the NTP settings were picked up that I figured out what was going on. As the Win2k8r2 server was booting up it was using the host VMWare ESXi time setting as its starting point and it was the host clock that was out of whack with the rest of the domain which uses a smoothie NTP server (sync'd to an ntp.pool). Once I'd corrected the timestamp the DFS promptly recovered and a little extra reboot just to be sure... Figured I'd share as someone is bound to come across this little bug and I've not found it reported as a possible problem/solution elsewhere. Ho hum...

Latest has a significant update due to the way dependencies are now handled. Apache 2.2.19 Subversion 1.7.1 cd /home/downloads/svn wget http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/subversion-1.7.1.tar.gz tar xfvz subversion-1.7.1.tar.gz cd subversion-1.7.1 sh get-deps.sh cd neon ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/neon make make install cd .. ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-apr=/usr/local/apache/bin/apr-1-config --with-apr-util=/home/cpeasyapache/src/httpd-2.2.19/srclib/apr-util --with-neon=/usr/local/neon/ --with-ssl make make install

It scares me how many times I end up reporting back that I'm a complete doofus sometimes but once again here I am, cap in hand... suitably red faced. The good news is that I didn't post up a billious rant fest about how I couldn't get DFS to refer to the correct site properly, nor mention that I spent hours poring over the DNS records trying to figure out if there was some setting I'd missed.. Nope.. instead, today after 10 days of occassional forays back into the problem I decided to recheck all the overrides on every nameserver but this time I obviously managed to check the target servers as well and found... ... yep, you guessed it... I'd set an override for the server that kept getting all the traffic... Oh how I laughed... manically.. Only problem now is that I'm still getting slow connection -> load local profile reports on the one machine I've tried so it may not be completely over... Still n'all I feel better for sharing my shame... Now hand me my sackcloth and ashes... Boy do I feel reet dumb!

Thanks Synack... as ever.. Learned something new and got everything working as expected... Did wonder how the heck to get that all resolved properly and I suspect a lot of my confusion stemmed from earlier docs relating to NT server setups that were more subdomain dependent while 2003 onwards provides for defined sites, subnets, etc... Useful to know..
