Hi, Found the answer. For Windows 7 the Event ID is 1074 For windows 10 the Source is Winlogon and the Event ID is 7002 Hope this helps anyone

Hi, I need to run a scheduled task when windows shutdown event is detected. I think the settings should be as follows but i'm not sure what the event Id would be for each windows version (XP, Windows 7, Windows 10): Begin The Task: On an event Log: System Source: User32 Event ID: ??????? Any help much appreciated.

Hi, the printers are attached to Windows 10 PCs (latest update as far as I know) via USB. The printers are then shared. I have set all the File and Printer sharing options and even played with some of the services as suggested in an article. We don't have AD or a dedicated print server. One article I found suggested that Windows 10 machines that were sharing before an update June last year will work ok but any shares setup now won't appear on the network which does seem to have some truth. Don't have any problems with the Windows 7 PCs on the same network.

Hi all, Thanks for all your replies. Just to update you all, the way i finally solved this was to use Local Group Policy to disable the USB ports from accepting external bulk storage devices. This then enabled me to buy a 2 port USB KVM switch which is not classed as a bulk storage device. On older XP machines that we still have, it's a simple registry change. Hope this is useful to some of you.

Hi, I have setup some shared printers on windows 10 PCs but can't see them on the network. I thought I read somewhere that a windows 10 update had blocked this facility? Also I can't see all PCs on my network although they are setup in the same way? Any help much appreciated.

Hi, Does anyone know of a straightforward way (Windows setting or Software) of stopping USB flash drives, External hard drives etc.. using the USB ports to copy data but still allow USB Keyboard and mouse to work. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Arthur, Thanks for your reply. That looks like a great solution. The only problem is the Pc's with the PS/2 connections are on a separate network for security reasons from the Pc's with USB.

Hi, I have a setup whereby for security reasons each person has 1 PC with USB ports and 1 PC where the USB ports are blocked and uses PS/2 sockets for Mouse and Keyboard. Rather than having screen and Mouse/Keyboard for each PC i would like to use a KVM switch. I can only find all PS/2 KVM switches or all USB switches at reasonable prices. I was wondering if i buy an all PS/2 switch whether there is an adaptor for the USB PC or vice versa. I have been searching the internet with no success. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
