Hi,
We are currently having a issue with a few departments in our school. They use a shared excel file for class data. The file is saved in their area on the shared drive within our network. They all have full permissions on all folders.
When one teacher has got the file open, another cannot open it. I would expect the second user to get the "read only" or "notify" box pop up when they try to open the file. Instead excel just sits there on the loading screen (green excel screen with the dots going across). If we try this process as a admin (not running excel as admin) then we can see that excel is still running in task manager even when we click on the cross on the loading screen. If we then end task and try to open the same file again it says "The last time you opened (file name) it caused a serious error. Do you still want to open it?" if we click yes then we get the "read only" etc window, which is what is expected. We have tried to open one of our shared excel documents this morning and had the same issue, this document has worked perfectly fine in the past. The issue has only arisen since moving to office 2016 in summer. One of the departments created their spreadsheet using office 2016, ours and the other department were in office 2013 last academic year.
Has anybody had this issue before? if so what was the issue and how was it fixed?
Thanks.
