  1. Disable net access worked for me yesterday. The instructions I found while looking for a fix said "pull out the lan cable" but you could use a different method
  2. The wages are not great but.. Its 5 minutes from the house (Id need to travel 50 miles to get real wages) 8.30-4.30 no on call stuff Its an easy life, controled by the local council and who works in the council?? - they expect things not to work, its what they are used too. So no pressure - it'll be done when its done. Virtually my own boss It sure beats digging holes in the road ( have been there and done that)
  3. Id have wrote it like $sql = "UPDATE cms SET content='{$ta}' WHERE pagename='{$pagename}'"; Or $sql = "UPDATE cms SET content=".$ta." WHERE pagename=".$pagename; None of which may be the correct/best way but if it works its good enough for me Whats going to be in the $ta textbox ? you might have to deal with ' / etc . Check http://uk2.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-real-escape-string.php which can be include in the query like.. $sql = "UPDATE cms SET content=".mysql_real_escape_string($ta)." WHERE pagename=".$pagename;
  4. Have a look through the forums at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ youll see they are all as bad as each other and nothing is unlimited Its a case of pick the best from a bad bunch unless you have deep pockets Im on a 2mb 100gig peak time cap with Freedom2surf @24.99 If I upgrade to the 8mb package I the 100gb drops to 50gb.
  5. They didnt hear him here then..or choose to ignore him more like. If we had ADSL it would be way faster than the crap 2Mb link to the main county hub that we have. If there wasnt trees Id see the BT exchange from my window
  6. Ive used password.xla before. Cant get to the site though, its blocked here http://www.straxx.com/excel/password.html

  8. We did binary at school back in the dark ages...late 70s when only the mega rich had a calculator that could add and takeaway. I remember spending weeks working out binary numbers and marking them on to cards with a hb pencil then feeding them in to a computer the size of a small car The kids here do touch on binary in the computing class but its hardly variable length subnet masks
  9. We have an ICT coordinator and a few other staff members who are away with the idea they have admin rights....so little do they know They are all Teachers with a different desktop pic Keeps them happy though and none of them has worked it out!!!
  10. This may help some with a bit of modification to suit your setup. Reads from a excel workbook. I had the user names/passwords etc given to me so it doesnt do that, only adds them to an ou in AD. You will have to change paths/domains/ etc but its a start 'User names etc must be on sheet1 of the workbook. The columns can be in any order - adjust the Cells value below to suite. 'An OU must be created on the server - the script wont do it!! 'Usage 'Copy the this script and the user Excel workbook to the server and double click to run. ' Possible Edits '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'objExcel.Cells(intRow, 5) = 5 is the column number to read. '("C:\Scripts\New_users.xls") = Path to the Excel workbook 'ou=NewUser, = choose an OU to suite, I addthem to "NewUsers" then moved them later. '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'open workbook Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") Set objWorkbook = objExcel.Workbooks.Open ("C:\Scripts\New_users.xls") 'int to count rows intRow = 1 'loop until end of sheet1 adding the users to AD Do Until objExcel.Cells(intRow,1).Value = "" 'set up the user Set objOU = GetObject("LDAP:// ou=NewUsers, dc=elginacad, dc=edu, dc=uk") Set objUser = objOU.Create("User", "cn=" & objExcel.Cells(intRow, 5).Value) objUser.Put "sAMAccountName", objExcel.Cells(intRow, 5).Value 'samaccount name eg LawsoE objUser.Put "userPrincipalName", objExcel.Cells(intRow, 5).Value ' account name eg LawsoE objUser.sn = objExcel.Cells(intRow, 4).Value ' users Surname objUser.givenname = objExcel.Cells(intRow, 3).Value 'users Forename objUser.displayname = objExcel.Cells(intRow, 3).Value & " " & objExcel.Cells(intRow, 4).Value ' Forename and Surname objUser.SetInfo 'set users password properties objUser.ChangePassword "",objExcel.Cells(intRow, 7).Value ' users Password objUser.userAccountControl = 65536 objUser.AccountDisabled = FALSE objUser.SetInfo 'set users profile properties objUser.Put "homeDirectory", "\\primergy\users\%username%" objUser.Put "homeDrive", "U:" objUser.Put "profilePath", "\\primergy\Profile\%username%" objUser.Put "scriptPath", "login.bat" objUser.SetInfo intRow = intRow + 1 Loop 'display msg box when finished MsgBox "Done" 'quit Excel objExcel.Quit
