I originally requested consent from all parent/pupils for pupil details to be shared with Show My Homework a site we actively use for pupils to be able to access their homework. I requested consent as I considered that this was not compulsory (in the public interest) for the school to use as we could provide homework by other means ( in other words nice to have rather than necessary).
I am getting more requests from individual departments to upload pupil names/email addresses to subject specific homework sites I am questioning whether I have been too ‘black and white’ in initially deciding we needed to request specific consent.
Would I be correct in thinking that in order for the school to fulfil its purpose the use of such sites is the norm. and that this would fall under public interest and, we would be covered if this is included in our privacy notices?
