  1. I'd be tempted to go for the "laughing and walking out of the room approach"... but... Switch Default Printer On The Fly In Windows Does that help at all? --------------------------- LOL thats exactly what i did monday morning, then got a visit from the assistant head yesterday and was Basically told to get it done. i think that "Switch Default Printer On The Fly In Windows" will work perfectly thanks Pjc
  2. @LeMarchand yea thats a good idea thanks, but she has sims and pars both running at all times during the day
  3. HAHAHA tell me about it! the member of staff in question is one of those how shall i say Very high maintance people who has an assistant head wraped round her finger and so gets what she wants
  4. hello there, my question is; is it possible to create a script that will display in the task bar that will show 1 icon when the colour printer is set as default and another icon when the B+W is set as default? Background... I am currently in the process of trying to save the school £200+ on an un-needed colour printer as the assessment manager finds it to difficult to change the default printer! At present said member of staff has a local B+W printer and is also connected to the network colour printer (Which is in the same room!), and she needs to be able to alternate between two depending on the document she is printing out of sims/pars I have created two batch files, one to set the B+W as default, one to set the colour as default and placed them in the tool bar, which works great. but now im being hit with " i havent got time to click one of those thingies before i print and its going to the wrong printer" Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated otherwise im Thanks Pjc

    Printing

Ok thanks looks like i may have to re-setup the trust between the two, steveg, the only reason we do it like that is it was like that when we inherited the network from the previous network manager, we did try about a year ago to have AD deploy them but we where getting alot of strange behavure on the network. but we have rebulit both admin and curric servers since then so might give it another bash, cheers

    Printing

The printers are installed locally on machine not via AD. the printserver isnt part of a domain as once i join it to one i cannot print from the other and vise-versa as there is no trust between the two Windows server 2003 R2 2xNIC 1-curric 1-admin bradmin to administer the printers(as we only use brother)

    Printing

Hello, At current we use two printserver, 1 for curriculum, 1 for admin i would like to set up all the printers onto 1 central printserver which would need to be in a workgroup, I have built the server and installed a network printer to it, i then installed said printer onto an admin machine and curriculum machine. Great, worked fine. The problem arises once I’ve logged off and back in as a student, teacher and indeed myself, i click print and it fails, but if i backslash to the printserver then print again it prints fine, understandable as a connection is being made with the correct credentials. I have tried various work-rounds but am now at a loss.... Any help you may be able to provide will very much appreciated Thank you in advance P.Campbell
