IH has two IT networks – one for staff (160 desktops) and one for class rooms and students (130 desktops and 50 interactive white boards). IH applications run both through an ‘on premise’ server room, with a mixed physical and virtual server environment, and via hosted services.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide a customer focussed IT service that helps users achieve their work objectives.
2. To provide first and second line support for end users and end user equipment, including classrooms.
3. To assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all current and future IT and telecom systems, for both business and educational applications.
4. Ensure that the School’s network remains operational, secure and up to date
MAIN DUTIES
1. Support network users through desk side and remote support.
2. Support technology use in the classroom environment
3. Control user access to the network though the administering active directory.
4. Assist with maintenance of physical and virtual server environments.
5. Assist with maintenance of standard MS server applications including Exchange.
6. Performing daily system monitoring including reviewing system and application logs.
7. Apply OS and security patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimisation.
8. Assist with backup of key systems securely so that they can be recovered as part of the business recovery programme.
9. Support remote access to the network, via Windows and MAC OS, for employees working away from the office.
10. Perform ‘in-house’ and arrange third party regular security monitoring of the network and of websites to identify any possible risks and / or intrusions.
11. Update anti-virus definitions on servers and clients.
12. Support administration of the VOIP phone system.
13. To undertake any other duties as delegated by the Head of IT as may from time to time be necessary to ensure the smooth running of the School’s operations.
Person specification
Education
1. An appropriate degree or HND and/or two or more years practical experience in a related sector i.e. education, commercial enterprise, or managed IT services.
2. Microsoft or CompTIA qualification such as MCP, A+ or Network+.
Experience
3. Installation, configuration and maintenance of:
• Windows Desktop
• MS Office
• Network hardware
• Interactive whiteboards and/or audio-visual equipment
• Windows Server
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft SQL (desirable)
• Enterprise backup systems
• Enterprise antivirus platforms
• Clustered hypervisor environments, ideally MS Hyper V
• Print management solutions, ideally PaperCut
• Linux (desirable)
• Moodle (desirable)
4. Desirable skills
• Knowledge of how IT operates in an educational context.
• Knowledge of a variety of educational software and hardware delivery platforms
• Administration of cloud-based platforms including Microsoft Office 365
• Administration of Microsoft SQL

• Technical administration of Linux / Moodle learning management system.
• Use of network monitoring and helpdesk ticketing systems
