  1. Hi There Thanks for the reply. I have ran the terminal command and also checked the sharing preferences. The DNS scavaging is also on on the Dns Servers. Each time i reboot the machine the the machine name in the sharing box in preferences under where it says remote logon. And tells you to log into the machine using SSH name is wrong. This name is the one that is being seen from the antivirus server and not the local machine name. Thanks Steve
  2. We are now rolling out Mcafee antivirus from the server to macs and PCS. On the macs we have to enable Remote login under sharing to enable the windows server to log in and install the agent. This works fine but when we come to roll out the antivirus setup the machine name Art-Macbook-01 keeps saying it is unmanaged. On closer inspection the sharing name for the machine is Art-Macbook-02 and this was the name that was used to bind this with active directory. When i look at the Ssh name under sharing the machine is showing as CB3-16 So when i try to roll out the antivirus the mac has suddenly been recognised as CB3-16. IS there any way to change the ssh machine name from cb3-16 to the correct name of Art-Macbook-02 as it is going to be hard to track this machines if they keep using other machine names that are in active directory. Also every time the machine is restarted the name changes. Any help would be appreciated. Steve
  3. We have a mac server which is all set up and running. Some machines can net boot to it to enable me to re image them with the net boot image stored on the server. Other machines which are the same type and hardware as the ones that have been imaged are not getting a connection from the server. When i hold the N key down to boot from the server i get the spinning globe then the machine eventually restarts after a while with the log on screen from the previous build. Not sure how to get around this.

  5. We have created a fireworks drop down navigation bar and exported it as a HTML file. When the file is viewed in fireworks we can see that the drop down menu works. As soon as the HTML file is inserted as an image object then viewed in browser the drop down menu is not working. We also have the same problem when we insert the spry menu bar and view it in the browser we are not able to see the drop down menus.

  11. I have bound the imac to the domain with the administrators user name and password. When network users log in the login screen shakes and nobody can log in. In the log in preferences all users are allowed to log in. The mac is also bound to open directory and the active directory has been moved to the top of the list. This still will not let anyone log in.

  16. Hi Jake The easiest way is if you go into the preferences where all the plist files are. Then if you change the setting on the mac arrange all the files in order of date and copy it into work group manager. Hope this helps. Steve

  21. We are running an xserve to control the preferences on our networked group of macs. All home folders are stored on a windows 2003 server so the xserve is just there to manage the doc and which applications the users are able to open. When users log into the server they are presented with there home drive and other netwrork shares that they are permitted to use. When they click save to save their work in whichever programme they are working on the default location is in the user folder under documents locally on the machine. Is there any way that i can change the default save location to be the users home directory for any user that logs into the machine.
