  1. We are looking at MySchoolPortal as a potential portal for parents to replace the awful iSAMS offering. I recall looking at MySchoolPortal a few years ago and I think (though I could be misremembering) that it couldn't pull through exams results or exams timetables. Is this still an issue with MySchoolPortal and/or are there any other things that a school might consider 'mission critical' that MySchoolPortal just cannot do?
  2. My school is thinking of getting rid of Firefly as we find it is getting a bit dated, the cost is rather high, and the functionality is bit 'clunky'. We were looking at My School Portal as an option, but don't know many schools that use it. Other options might be to use Epraise, or build a SharePoint site. Can anyone sing the praises of (or warn me away from) any of the above options or point me in the direction of some other options? We are ideally looking for something that does seamless Teams integration, can share attendance and behaviour information, reports/grades and allow us to send forms to parents for them to fill in.
  3. Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations for ebook platforms, specifically those for which have educational books. The only two I have found so far are Classoos and Snapplify. Does anyone have any other platforms they know of? Many thanks in advance
  4. Hi, We have a number of laptops which are part of our one-to-one initiative. Because we 'own' these devices, we can be quite tough in terms of policies and installed software. To monitor student activity, we use Senso, it basically gives teachers peace of mind that they can live see what the students are doing. We are looking at escalating the rollout to other year groups, but due to Covid are concerned that parents might have already bought their children laptops, in which case - if there is an overwhelming proportion of students already with laptops - we might go BYOD in certain year groups. We could insist on Senso being installed, but because the student owns the device, nothing to stop them uninstalling the software. Has anyone had any experience with software which allows for live monitoring of BYOD devices? I was hopeful there might be some way that we can set up authorisation so that if a specific piece of software isn't running on a BYOD device, the device is not allowed on the network. Here's hoping.
  5. Hi, quick question. We are looking to move our (school) staff absence request process online, the current paper system is archaic and no longer fit for purpose. We need something that can link to SIMS so the absence request goes to the initial line manager, and once that has been agreed then goes to the deputy head, which then goes to the cover manager. Can anyone recommend a platform which can enable staff to fill in an online form which then goes to relevant staff members for sign off?
  6. Hi, Hoping someone might have some guidance for me. We are looking at digitising our school pupil records - which are currently all on paper. As you can imagine, searching through these batches can be laborious, not to mention not having a backup in the potential disaster of the documents being destroyed in some way. We want to begin the process of digitising these documents using a solution which is easily searchable and can grant permissions on various documents (or collections of). We would also want to outsource the scanning of the documents as there are hundreds of thousands of pages. Also in an ideal world it would integrate with SIMS - but this isn't a deal breaker. Really grateful for any advice on this as slightly shooting in the dark.
