Yea so I’ve got documents redirecting to \\server-name\sharename\%username% which Is the same value that is in the users AD area

Will the error above be because of permissions? Specially as it’s saying access denied in the event viewer

Hi All, Upgrading domain controller to 2016 I have added it to the domain... current domain controller is 2012 and when running dcdiag getting unable to connect to the netlogon share on new domain controller.. basically it hasnt replicated to the new dc.. anyone had this? thanks in advance

Going to sound really silly now... how can I check this as the gpo's for users are locked down so cant type this path

Just looking through event viewer and got the group policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied. This error was suppressed

Thanks for the response, I will use the advanced folder redirection for the seperate intake years. Back on to the my documents is there any other way around this without using FRSM and blocking the desktop.ini as i have heard this can effect login times

For each individual intake year my plan is to put them each into a security group and then apply the different intake home location shares to the relevant security group.. is this the best way? As previously all users folders where shared individually and I have read this is bad practice? thanks

Hi All, Currently migrating user shares and they are currently shared by each individual user share I am however changing this so that just the year of intake folder is shared. Currently as its dc\username for the users home share I now want it to be dc\students\2010\username. Will I need a seperate gpo for each year of intake? and also I have set documents redirect to user homeshare but it has now renamed the folder to my documents. Any help would be much appreciated.. thanks in advance

Hi All, Currently we have two domain controllers both running server 2008 r2 the plan is to migrate these to freshly built windows server 2016 domain controllers. First domain controller (dc01) has fsmo roles, dhcp Then we have second domain controller (dc02) Wanting to keep the same names & ips my plan is to decommission dc02, and remove it from the domain. Then add new freshly built windows server 2016 with the same name and ip address as the old dc02 just removed from the domain, add it to the domain and then promote it to a domain controller. From there I will then check if replication is working okay. Then the next step is to migrate the fsmo roles and dhcp from the original old windows server 2008 r2 (dc01) to the new dc02 I had just promoted. Then do the same again decommission the old dc01 and remove it from the domain. Give my other new freshly built server 2016 the same name and ip as the old dc01, add it to the domain and promote it to a domain controller transfer the fsmo roles backover and then do dhcp. Does this plan sound okay? Thanks

Right so I changed the mac address of the vethernet switch restarted the machine and ran the powershell command and it had successfully changed... but I am still getting the error event mac conflict...grrrrr Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the response.. Going to check that out now. I have been thinking I am going to set the mac address on my vethernet on the hyper-v host to a different one so it is different to the NIC team one as this is how I interpreted the error message? Was your scenario like this? Thanks again

Hi All, Have 2 Hyper-V hosts setup with Server 2016. Have a guest vm running Windows Server 2016 (file server) which seems to be having intermittent performance issues.. slow for users to save work at times and sometimes slow access when browsing the shares. I have read numerous articles about broadcom network cards & hyper-v and disabling VMQ but no improvement. On the hyper-v hosts I am getting en error event 16945 MAC conflict: A port on the virtual switch has the same MAC as one of the underlying team members on Team Nic Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver. I get that in a NIC Team it will use one of the network adaptors mac address but then I am getting a duplicate mac address on my vethernet switch.. Do you think this maybe causing the issue? Thanks
