The talk will be about the IT dept in General and how it works in our company. We really rely on ebay for our sales, and we use eBay to generate sales. I thought a I'd start with talking about our company in general, when it was formed, how long it's been going on etc and then a talk about the history of the Internet, followed by a fact finding survey, on who knows what about word, excel, email and the sorts. We then move on to how to create a effective title.. I've already created a fair use policy that's been passed by the other directors in the company, and I'll go through that during the end of the talk, but I need an effective way of filling the gaps, or I'll end up with anarchy, and a lot of of thumb twiddling! On Monday, I've got to give a talk about our new business, to forthcoming apprentices who are staying for 6 weeks. I've managed to scratch together enough matrerial just to last me until 10.30, but try as I might, I just cannot think of anything else to say! This new adventure of ours is to buy and sell furnature through fleabay, and the programme has been split into 3 days. Myself on day 1, kat, who's going to talk about listing the products, and Joe, who's in charge of stock movement. I know this isn't really anything to do with the education sector, but has anyone in the past had to give one of these talks, and can give me any pointers?? Graham

Whenever I open a office document from the desktop, I get two windows opening. The first is the actual document I need, the second is a blank page that's greyed out, with no infomation on it. How can I stop this "ghost" window that opens?? This only seems to happen when I click the file shortcut , and not through the "open" option in word. Any idea what's going on?? Graham

I went for an IT tech job in the school, working as a tech who just fixed normal day to day problems - for example, as a test they said to me "here is a laptop bought back by one of our students, he was complaning that the laptop no longer works - can you find out what the problem might be? I noitced that when I booted up the machine,an error message came up - no operating system found. I turned the laptop over, and discovered that the HDD was removed - piece of p**s.... I should have realised then... that I was too expericenced!!! LOL!!! Bob

I just went for an interview at a local school, here in Rushden. After a while they rang back and said " sorry, but you were insuccessful in the post, we felt that you were over qualified, any we think this job would bore you to tears in a few months" In other words, the job had already been filled by someone inside... Sigh, one minute, i'm under -qualified, the next, over - qualified!!! Bob

I've got a few course books, including the "All in one" Network + guide, third edition, but that was some time ago, and I suppose the boks been updated since. At the moment Tresham's not doing the N+ and that's what course i would like to continue. As for what career path i would go down, it would have to be in a support role, or something like that!
