I'm sad I missed out on the pizza, but did enjoy getting beaten by my none gaming colleague in the knock-off Street Fighter game.

Unifi captive guest portal SSL errors
Praxis replied to Praxis's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thank you, looking at their pricing though I think they will be out of our price range. -
We want to set up a guest portal that has a voucher system on our Cloudkey Gen 1, the Unifi one would be good enough but it throws up SSL errors and creates problems with devices. I have looked at a lot of guides that show you how to install your own SSL cert onto the Cloudkey to stop this but it seems like the method has changed multiple times over the years and an update can easily break it. Are there any services that can provide a hosted solution for this or does anyone have the most up to date guide on how to do this please? I have had a free trial with myplaceconnect, but that seems more geared towards venues and marketing and does not have a voucher system.

Thanks for this, as I said, the BenQ screens were the ones I liked most at BETT, at least from the ones I managed to see.

That sounds like a bit of a nightmare for certain members of staff! Thanks for the warning. Thank you for the information

Funnily enough they were the screens that I liked the most too, especially the BENQ RM7503 I will get in touch with them and get some more info but would like to hear from someone with a similar setup already and how it works for them. One or two inputs would be fine to be honest. Looking at Smart's prices always put us off in the past to be honest, they seem to be more expensive than everyone else.

We are looking into gradually replacing all of our projectors with touchscreens in the class rooms, the problem is nearly every device that will be used with them are Macbook Air M1's. I looked at a lot of screens at the BETT Show recently, and they all said they support touch using their own apps that are available on Apple devices, but I'm worried about latency and it just generally being a bit naff compared to a wired connection you'd get with something like a Windows laptop. I'm guessing this could be an issue when it comes to Apple devices as a lot of the drivers needed for this function are Windows only. I don't think buying an optional Windows module for the screen will be an option, or at least it will be a very hard sell to staff who are used to Mac's. We're looking at 75" minimum and as budget friendly as possible, although open to anything at the minute. Can anyone recommend a screen that would enable us to use the touch functionality natively on Mac, mainly for web based activities like Education City, Numbots etc? Thanks

I won one of the Microsoft Trail competition laptops, so that was good

I'll be there on the Thursday and Friday but looking at the floor plan it doesn't look as busy as usual sadly, might not need both days this year.

I was just coming to the forum to ask the same thing regarding imaging. We really don't want to pay for a MDM so looks like I am wiping every machine individually, installing Big Sur and all of the apps one by one!

Mosyle on iPad's - QR Codes not scanning
Praxis replied to Praxis's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Thanks for looking into this for me. What an annoying issue, I will do as you suggested but in the mean time I'll see if a QR app will sort it. Edit: I have installed a QR app onto the iPad's and that's working great -

Mosyle on iPad's - QR Codes not scanning

I did not know that! Looking in control centre though and I don't see QR Reader listed. The iPad's are currently on 14.1 -
We have a set of iPad's for children to use and each teacher has their own iPad as well, they are all set up with Mosyle with a different configuration for each group. One of our teacher's has set up a project that requires students to scan QR codes around the school, these scan fine on teacher iPad's but not on the student's. I have checked in the camera preferences and the "Scan QR Codes" option is enabled, I have checked if filtering was somehow causing it but it is not. It must be one of the settings in the MDM. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello, We have around 20 iMac’s, we have no AD/OD accounts, just local. We’re trying to work out the best way of going about this. Each machine will have just one shared Minecraft account. I was going to make 30 separate O365 accounts (one for each Mac) then download Minecraft individually each machine. I started doing this, managed to sign into two accounts, but when trying to sign into the rest I get this error: Any ideas please?

Thanks, but it turned out to be another issue. They recently updated their login page, this included an embedded Vimeo link, this was being filtered by Smoothwall and for some reason that was breaking the login. I have unblocked it now and it's working again.

We have a set of iPad's, they're managed by Mosyle. We are having an issue with a website and their advice is to clear the browser cache. The way to do this (settings>Safari>clear history and website data) is greyed out. I assume this is enabled by default? We can't remember restricting this in Mosyle, and I can't see the option to enable it when looking through the menus on Mosyle. Could anyone help me with this issue please?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll try and get it sorted this afternoon

Hi, I am trying to open the required ports for Mosyle to function correctly. These are: TCP 5223 TCP 2195 TCP 2196 TCP 443 UDP 16386 We are using Smoothwall and have a DrayTek Vigor 2860 router. I have opened these ports in Smoothwall by creating a firewall rule, but when I test them, the ports are still blocked. I am assuming this is the router causing this. When I go to open ports on the router it is asking for a private IP, I am unsure what to input into this box as it's not just one device I want to open the ports for? We have around 45 iPads that need managing via Mosyle.

That's a good price, thanks. I have just sent them an email.
