  1. ESET NOD32 without a doubt, they do Home and Office versions of just antivirus or security versions. Have a look at Antivirus Software - from ESET I use the Business Security version on all PC's at home, I also have it on my school laptop and am excluded from any of the Sophos updates.
  2. I used to use Eset Nod32 2.7 with a Linksys Router, Windows Firewall, not bee hit in ages. Recently moved to ESET Home Security suite, seems even better, with firewall, anti-spam, anti-virus and other tools, for around £40.00 what could be better, Eset are very proactive and better then anything around at present. As for the freebies I wouldn't really trust them.
  3. I have use something called "Zap" from IBM, It's floppy based and only a few bytes in size so will fit on a boot disk. Boot with the floppy, at the A:\ prompt type zap 0, answer the are you sure message, job done in seconds
  4. For this size of project I would get someone in, it would solve all sorts of problems, beside they should know about Building Regs, H&S, Cabling Stds etc. I would get three quotes and possibliy go with the middle one. If you are / have been tasked with the job get as much info / data together as possible. Of course you can use it all for ammo for not doing the task. Begin with the Cicso site, they are world leaders in their field and they provide lots of free info. You may also be able to get a free CCO logon to access even more stuff, you may have to be economical with the truth on some questions but it should be okay. Try this link as a taster: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/netacad/course_catalog/CableFAQ.html
