SAM is not owned or developed by Capita but is resold by them. We use it and it works well, but I would suggest going direct, not through Capita. They are releasing some more bits which ties into HR, called SAMpeople, if you need it but the staff absence part saves us a lot of time each month and we don’t use all the functions.

Good morning, I apologise for asking, but I can't find the link for this and my googlefu has failed this morning. Could anyone point me in the direction of when the Cisco Umbrella software will expire for DfE supplied laptops? I believe it is the end of March 2021, but couldn't remember if it had been extended after that. Thank you.

It sounds to me like you've already made your mind up to do this. If you have and also have a good idea, then yes, follow your dream. Will it succeed or fail? That will be on you and your idea. There is always a market for the right sort of idea, and the right sort of person. With the greatest respect, I nether know you or what your idea is, so I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to whether or not it will work. Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best and hope that it brings you happiness.

The serial numbers are not the eCodes, I believe that they are the ones that track each code. The eCodes are under the codes heading.

So after far to many hours on this. I think we can all conclude that the EdenRed site is in need of further work. Although if they could just get the codes to activate on time would be great. My new workflow is as follows. I access the site at a quiet time, and to do a search for activation date; only doing one week at a time. (Still 16 pages). I then copy the redeemed serial numbers to a blank excel spreadsheet. Once in excel I then select all (ctrl+a), select unmerge cells (from the home tab), remove any columns with non-relevent information, and finally then remove duplicates (from the data tab). I then copy that to my excel spreadsheet with the week codes on. I will include sanatised versions here (with anyluck) and you are welcome to use or change in anyway that suits you. The first dated one, was my beta sheet, where I merged two separate sheets (which I had used for mail merge and email merge) so is not the best, but might still be useful if you only have a few codes to check. The later dated one, is my more refined sheet. I use this as the basis for both mail & email merge and it worked very well this week (We had all codes emailed and printed before 8:30am Monday morning). I won't include details of how to use it to run a mail/email merge, but feel free to DM if you want pointers. In both cases, you copy the codes from the blank sheet (as outlined above) and it checks the serial number against the codes you have and highlights the matches. You then change the status from live to redeemed and it changes that entry to green, giving our DSL's and Family workers a quick overview for who they will offer further help. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, please move if there is a better one. What I'm trying to achive, is to check which free school meal codes have been redeemed by parents using the EdenRed service. I have a spreadsheet (excel) that contains the list of the parents, and the serial numbers of the codes that were given to them. I'd like to then compare from EdenRed, which ones have been redeemed and turn that row green (for easy identifcation). Unfortunatley, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this. As EdenRed only shows the infomation on screen, with no easy way to download and compare. Just wondered if anyone else has looked at this and come up with something that automates this task? Thank you.

Whilst I haven’t yet used one. I’ve seen and read practically every review for these. The basic upshot is that this is a step in the right direction for Ubiquiti, but it does have some flaws. Most agree that the firewall rules, which are included are ok for a small business, but not so much for larger places. There have been several problems with getting them set up in the first place (registered on the network etc), but once they are, they seem to be rock solid and very quiet. If you need layer 3, it’s not there yet, but is ‘coming soon’ via software update. Would I get one. In a heartbeat, but I would also potentially looking at having an extra firewall and having the dream machine pro do everything else.

I’m afraid I don’t know that as we don’t have Chromebooks. They’ve been very accommodating if we’ve asked for anything though, so might be worth a quick email to them.

Have a look at Senso.Cloud. They support Chromebooks and you can pick just the parts you need.

We just did this through a company call iHasco. I think it worked out at £4 per person. You have a series of videos and reference documents to watch/read and then a test at the end. If set up through school, the admin will be able to set the pass level (our was 100% to pass) and once everyone has taken it, or the end date has passed, the admin can see how passed and can download free certificates. We’ve been told this meets or needs, but would be worth checking yourself.

We went with MyConcerns. Works very well and even the most techno-phobic staff member seems able to log incidents easily.

Yes, completely understandable, but not very helpful. We certainly don't have the budget to replace them all, which I why we are looking at Veracrypt. It's free and can encrypt the entire hard drive.

As to the right thing to do it's up to the school. However, we are in a similar situation and our local IT support have suggested that they will not support us with implementing bitlocker on them as they feel it is not enough. (Although they offer no solution), We are instead looking at Veracrypt on them and replacing with laptops containing TPM as and when we get chance to replace.

Our HT has asked us to have a look at different MIS' to replace our SIMS install. He is especially interested in the Arbor MIS, and I wonder if anyone has any opinions or experience with it that they would mind sharing either on here or via PM. TIA

I have a small(ish) problem, that I'm hoping someone might have seen and be able to help with. I'm trying to install the Lightspeed Mobile Manager client onto a Clevertouch Plus screen, be sideloading it onto the Android software of the screen. I have tried downloading it from Lightspeed's url and by using a USB stick and installing through the file finder app, but in both instances I get a message saying "It cann't support installation". Out of curiosity I downloaded a software patch from Clevertouch, which should work on the screen, and got the exact same message. Looking through several forums and doing a google search didn't throw any hints, so wondered if anyone has any ideas before I contact Clevertouch support? TIA
