    We simply set the staff group rights to post to the group but not receive emails.

    You can configure the google groups so students cannot post to them by denying "posting" rights or setting moderation rules.

    Interesting - I need to try it again - last time I tried it they didnt work - then I read the "known issues" here - https://support.google.com/a/answer/7491144?hl=en however it now looks like they may have resolved this....I'll be testing again very soon!!

    we looked at using it - however it is view only for Team drives. As we are trying to encourage team drives in school we felt this could be a backwards step and misleading. it doesnt tell you when you change a file in a team drive that its not going to upload the changes (as far as I could tell at least)
