We are currently recruiting for a Senior IT Technician This post holder will be working alongside the Head of IT with a focus on the day-to-day support of all areas of MAC’s IT and Digital infrastructure. The Senior IT Technician will work closely with all staff and customers to solve any day-to-day issues. The Head of IT is a strategically important position responsible for developing and delivering IT resources and services within the organisation, both at the arts centre and through its learning and participation activities. RESPONSIBLE FOR: The post holder is responsible for overseeing the work of staff and contractors as required and oversees the relationships with external IT support companies. PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES This is a key management post in IT. The role involves and is responsible for: · Strategic leadership and direction of new infrastructure projects including enhancements and replacement to existing systems. · Project management of internal and external resources to deliver IT projects. · Managing IT resources to deliver a consistently high quality service to internal and external customers · Managing and/or supporting all the centre’s back-office IT systems including our event ticketing system (Spektrix), room booking system (Yesplan), EPOS system, accounting system (Exchequer), HR software (PeopleHR), Office 365 and integrated information used throughout the centre on plasma screens amongst others as well as having full responsibility for any projects required in these areas. · Leading all technical aspects of delivering IT services for all functions within MAC communications internally and externally; marketing and customer relations. · Leading technical aspects of delivering IT services for arts production and delivery, learning and participation programmes. · Assisting in the development and implementation of new systems and to establish, communicate and execute support strategies required by our business plan. · Designing and implementing systems and document procedures on user training, support and future IT strategy. · Ensuring there is a robust approach to cyber security throughout the organisation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES You will be expected to: · Ensure the IT support provider is on call to cover emergencies and technical issues. · Manage all IT subcontractors and project manage any internal IT work. · Develop, manage and monitor all budgets for areas within your responsibilities. · Provide effective IT resources as required for in-house production and co-production management (whether MAC staff or contractor). · Create and monitor written procedures for incoming artists’ and companies’ use of MAC IT services. · Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation e.g. GDPR, storage of data and PCI compliance. Ensure that all data is protected and backed up in liaison with the current external support organisations. · Support the Creative Learning offer at MAC developing digital events and courses. Maintenance, support and development · Liaise with our external IT support providers and specialist software support companies to identify, prioritise and resolve all reported problems with systems, hardware/software and/or network problems, including event ticketing system hardware, in a timely and professional manner. · Liaise with our external commuications providers to resolve any issues with Internet and voice communications. · Manage the site telecoms infrastructure including VoIP and call logging management software. · Develop, review, monitor and report key service level agreements with performance metrics for each of the functions under your responsibility. · Undertake hardware and software auditing. · Establish renewal & replacement needs for equipment and stock. · Oversee the setting up of all user accounts and staff digital inductions. Management of Staff and Contractors · In liaison with the Head of Techncial Resources monitor the performance of the Digital Media Technicians · Ensure the Digital Media Technician maintains equipment so it is ready for the programmed courses and events. · Ensure effective communication with all departments. · Ensure that the Department adheres to all MAC's administrative, HR and other procedures. · Implementation and monitoring of safe working practices. · Assist the Head of Creative Learning in supporting specialist staff for digital courses and events. Financial & Resource Management · Ensure financial procedures are followed. · Work with the Senior Management Team of MAC to create annual and long-term budgets for the department. · Assist with the creation of budgets for specific IT capital and renewal programmes. · Ensure appropriate contracts are negotiated with contractors and provide effective management of those contracts. · Supervise, plan and control expenditure to remain within agreed budgets. · Monitor stock levels.   5. Principal Purpose of Post The Technician is responsible to the Head of IT for technical services relating to digital media and related events in the Centre. Principal Objectives  Provide IT support to the system and services installed in the media studio to facilitate the running of the digital courses, there will be opportunities to engage in network administration within a Microsoft and Apple MAC environment.  The safe operation and maintenance oApp Form 2017.docf video, film, digital media and photography equipment and projection spaces in the department's control.  Assisting the Head of IT in day-to-day IT administrative tasks.  To facilitate and support artist tutors and participants that reflects the talents, interests and interpretation skills of learners through appropriate media, techniques and skills.  As part of mac’s learning programme, to support technical workshops and provide assistance in the use of digital software and their creative use. Key Responsibilities  Managing and maintaining the media studio computer network (Windows and Mac), creating new course accounts, archiving old course data, troubleshooting, and installing software when required.  To follow established safe working practices in the pursuance of duties and ensure that participants, tutors and visiting organisations adhere to mac's safety policy.  Ensuring the careful use of mac's equipment, and securing good technical standards at all times.  Cataloguing and managing loans of equipment.  To contribute to mac's learning & participation activities as appropriate through technical workshops both independently and in conjunction with mac's learning & participation producer, external artists and visiting companies.  On occasions to provide liaison and technical assistance on behalf of mac to external agencies.  To assist as necessary and appropriate in the technical servicing of Seminars, Conferences and Meetings within mac.  To assist, in conjunction with the Head of IT, media technician and the producing team, in the preparation of equipment, materials and exhibits for mac's exhibition activities.  On occasion, Duties will include;  Facebook Live, Podcasting and Video Blogging.  Preparation of venues for film and video presentations, ensuring effective operation of sound, screen and projection equipment.
