  1. Out of interest, do these ex CSE engineers have a website for their management tools?
  2. Thanks for clearing up the licencing issue. The other issue I am faced with, is that I have a dozen with faulty PSUs, and trying to get replacements from NS Optimum is a nightmare (they are all still within warranty).
  3. Are you sure about XP Home Edition? I don't have the quote for the computer order, but by looking at similar machines on NS Optimum's website, they are selling them with Vista Basic... NS Optimum Total ICT Solutions Provider For Schools And Colleges
  4. Hello Again Just before I started working here at my current school, my predecessor ordered 30 NS Optimum workstations to replace older kit. I have just noticed that all of the machines were supplied with Microsoft Windows Vista - Home Basic. We are currently using Windows XP Pro on them through the Microsoft Schools Agreement. My question is, is Vista Home Basic a legitimate 'base' operation system to have for a Windows XP volume upgrade? I was under the assumption that it wasn't. I've been notified by the Bursar that NS Optimum were fully aware that we would be using XP Pro on them. Any advice and guidance would be grateful.
  5. No i cant get in, because it detects a loss of network connectivity and shuts the computer down. Safe mode is disabled or has been crippled by this software. I can't find any of the documentation or contact the last tech and the website has very little in the way of support. The shutdown when no network detected setting seems to be 'tattooed' into the machine. Also, when looking closely at the remote control software, it is just appears NetSupport School renamed as 'Remote Tutor'!!!
  6. Howdy, I have recently started a new job (my first in education), in a primary school as a IT Tech. The network has some software on it called schoolsuite. This is network management software which locks the desktop down, and enables me to remotely control the machines. The problem is, is that the security is far too secure (especially for a primary), as it has an inbuilt command that shuts the computer down if there is a loss of connection to the server! This is all very good, unless there is a problem with the network card!!! (5 of my machines at the moment), or the switch crashes!!!, or the laptops lose their wireless connection!!! There seems to be no way of booting into windows 'offline', as safe mode doesn't work, and it shuts down windows as soon as it gets to the logon box. Nobody at schoolsuite.co.uk will reply to my emails, and there doesn't appear to be any support threads on this site. Please Help Me!!!!!! Joanne
