We are looking to move our onsite server infrastructure to the cloud at the end of next year as we have some issues with the integrity of our server room. It's a project that's a little overwhelming as the decision about how we authenticate our users, how we store our files, how we manage printers, run legacy software etc are coming up and I can't quite figure out the best way to do this. The main choice that I can see is between either running a similar setup to what we have now in Azure or AWS with a site-to-site VPN and/or use Azure AD Premium/Intune in place of active directory and a standard domain setup. Has anyone else had to make a similar decision or would recommend a different approach?
The other part of is that we want to move our file share onto the cloud and we already use office365 for emails/teams and some collaboration on onedrive but are looking to move everything over. However, our chair of governors has a lot of experience as the head of a MSP and has been pushing us to take this opportunity to move to google workspaces instead. As far as I can see, the two have very similar offerings and the headache of moving/retraining seemed to outweigh anything we would gain by doing it but I was wondering whether anyone who has used both thought it would be a good idea and what the positives/negatives were.
