About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an entry level IT professional to work at the Ashcombe School in Dorking, Surrey. We are seeking someone with commitment and enthusiasm to be part of a lively, well managed and successful team. The successful candidate will be given full support and encouraged to engage in further professional development which we believe will benefit both the individual and the school.
This is a full time position, 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Working days are Monday to Friday.
24 Days Annual Leave (Plus 8 Bank Holidays)
SESSET 4 £20,722 to £22,716 per annum

Our Facilities:
Windows server infrastructure – there are 12 virtual and 5 physical Microsoft Windows servers, running a mix of Server 2016 & 2019 operating systems
VMWare infrastructure – there are two physical VMware ESXI servers running VMWare vSphere 6.7
Backup infrastructure – one physical server running Veeam backing up to QNAP NAS and JP LTO6 Tape Library
The network – we have a fault tolerant network of 42 managed HP Aruba/Procurve switches, and 50 Unifi Aps
IT Suites – we have 30 rooms which contain student desktops, including 15 rooms that have at least 23 computers, with some having as many as 35. All ICT suites are running either Windows 10. The software provided differs from room to room, with examples being Adobe Creative Cloud, Sibelius & Cubase Software
Staff computers – all teaching staff use encrypted Windows 10 laptops. Additionally, there are desktops in IT suites and offices
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills.
Essential
A keen interest in computer software and hardware
A positive attitude and team player
Excellent verbal and written communication
Good working knowledge of Windows 10
Excellent troubleshooting skills for common IT and A/V issues
Fit to carry and setup equipment for bookings around the school
Willing to tackle repair of laptops or desktops under supervision
Willing to understand practical tasks, installation of TVs and speakers
Desirable
Previous experience of working within a school environment
Knowledge of Azure, Active Directory and Group Policy
Knowledge of DHCP and DNS
Experience with printer maintenance including MFPs
Experience with CCTV deployment and maintenance
Experience of a managed wireless solution such as Ubiquiti Unifi
Experience of working with managed switches and networked equipment
Experience using an IP Telephony system
