Hi all Had some major issues with sccm server to the extent i reinstalled, had more issues with pxe booting, that is now sorted but now i am getting no task sequence available for this computer, i have recreated the boot images, ensured the task sequence is showing in the dp, all the computers i am trying have never been on sccm before and i have checked the mac address and smsbios is not showing in the console, they appear once the message appears but i then delete before trying again, the task sequence is deployed to the unknown computers group, Any chance a genius can spot where i am going wrong from the log attached SMSPXE.txt
-
Well both Queries work, but they don't find anything, as i would expect because the computers have never been on the system.
-
Done, that, only boot images show, search for mac address says no as well.

Hi, i have had sccm working for a few years but a month or so ago after updating everything broke, every component showed critical errors, so i went back to the beginning and reinstalled everything, i am now getting to the point that when pxe booting a brand new machines its failing with PXE-E53,& PXE-M0F and the log below shows references to Duplicate mac addresses & SMBIOS references, the computers do not exist in the environment. Can anyone help me with this issue please Boot image BHS00002 has changed since added SMSPXE 22/07/2020 09:12:00 4640 (0x1220) Loaded Windows Imaging API DLL (version '10.0.19041.1') from location 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Deployment Tools\amd64\DISM\wimgapi.dll' SMSPXE 22/07/2020 09:12:00 4640 (0x1220) Opening image file C:\RemoteInstall\SMSImages\BHS00002\boot.BHS00002.wim SMSPXE 22/07/2020 09:12:00 4640 (0x1220) Found Image file: C:\RemoteInstall\SMSImages\BHS00002\boot.BHS00002.wim PackageID: BHS00002 ProductName: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Architecture: 0 Description: Microsoft Windows PE (x86) Version: Creator: SystemDir: WINDOWS SMSPXE 22/07/2020 09:12:00 4640 (0x1220) Closing image file C:\RemoteInstall\SMSImages\BHS00002\boot.BHS00002.wim SMSPXE 22/07/2020 09:12:00 4640 (0x1220) Prioritizing local MP http://BHS-SCCM.brecon-hs.powys.sch.uk. They are brand new out of the box, never been on the system before.

Hi all, need some help, had an sccm server working for years, end of last year deployed 360 computers via pxe for our new school setup, tried to pxe boot a few last week, it gets to the checking media presence, media present, start pxe over ipv4 on mac...... Stays on that for a few minutes and then goes to a dell support assistant, scanning for potential problems, so it is not finding the server to connect to find the image, these are brand new computers that have never been conneted to the network before. Looking at the pxe smspx.log there are a lot of red lines highlighting RequestMPKeyInformation: Send() failed, capture attahced. Does anyone have any info that could help me out with this.

Hi all, we have received a bio balance checker from our local authority but do not know the name or model number of said machine. Would anyone know what machine this is and if there are any online instructions available? Powers on via POE ok but just gets stuck at ready screen. I have attached a photo of the machine. Many thanks.

Ok this may take some explaining. We use papercut for printer authentication, we have our domain which runs a 172.x.x.x subnet, and a wireless byod network that runs on a 192.x.x.x subnet. I want to be able to see and print from the byod network, our council handles the wifi and firewalls, they have opened it up so that we can login and authenticate to paper cut on the wifi, but we can not see the printers when on the wireless connection, i have been told to create a secondary papercut server on my mac mini which i have done. I have also been told to create a bridge between the ethernet port on the mac (Connected the domain) and the wireless port (Connected to wifi) to open the two networks up. I have no idea how to do this or even if its the correct thing to do. I have been stuck on this for three weeks so if any one has successfully setup byod between two subnets please save my sanity.

I have at present all my servers virtualised using hyper v and would now like to turn all the pc’s in the school into thin clients and have them log on to virtual desktops. What I need is a good step by step guide to getting the first server setup through to load balancing servers and even the best type of software to use for the thin clients, ideally I would like to thin client software that literally starts up and presents a remote desktop connection straight to the first available server. I am about to undergo a project to virtualise the school, I have read forum after forum but I looking for advice or assistance from someone who has done this in a school. Anyone got anything like this or any information on what they have done / used. As usual free or within the schools Microsoft licencing would be advantages.

I can ping the computer ip address and dns returns the hostname, and vice versa, I have always prefixed the username with the domain name, my admin credentials that i use for everything, and which will work for other machines no problem. I have just found these lines in the log but the solus status still says error occured obtaining data from the remote machine check that wmi is enabled on the remote machine and any firewalls are configured to allow wmi traffic. 2016-02-04 08:50:39.4613|Info|Executing command InstallAgent for computer name bs1-teacher net.tcp://172.19.193.98:52966/. 2016-02-04 08:50:39.4613|Info|bs1-teacher Looking for target OS 2016-02-04 08:50:39.4613|Info|Attempting to create ConnectionOptions with username='BRECON_CURRIC\Ajames' 2016-02-04 08:50:39.5707|Info|bs1-teacher Installation worker completed.

Thanks for that, still no difference, any other idea's

Hopefully someone can assist with some solus install errors is have. First one is error occured obtaining data from the remote machine check that wmi is enabled on the remote machine and any firewalls are configured to allow wmi traffic. Firewalls are switched off on the server and the clients. Second one is Solus installs on the machine, downloads the update but when says one or more errors occured, gives no further information and i can't find any logs to help.

Wondering if anyone can help with this. Using profile manager to manage macs, set everything up and its all working, now when a user runs office it does the annoying run once screens, does anyone know how to prevent that from happening. The second issue is with map drives, in order to show the pupils shared folder i have to allow connected servers to display on the desktop, which is fine, but that also puts the pupils folder on the desktop which allows the user to search through the whole schools users folders. For example the path is smb://nas/pupils/14/username, when 14jbloggs logs in the home folders is displayed in the dock, but on the desktop it shows the 14 folder which then allows them to search through all the other folders, any ideas to how to stop that.

I have decided to give the linux option a try and have setup a ubuntu server 14.04 following the installtion instructions on https://docs.moodle.org/26/en/Step-by-step_Installation_Guide_for_Ubuntu I have got as far as Step 4: Download Moodle Setup your local repository and download Moodle, We will use /opt for this installation. cd /opt sudo git clone git://git.moodle.org/moodle.git But it returns an error stating Cloning into moodle Fatal: unable to connect to git.moodle.org: git.moodle.org[0: 78.46.57.7]: errno=connection timed out I am a total newbie to linux, can someone point me in the right direction.
-
I am looking for some assistance. Our VLE (Moodle) is hosted by another organisation and they are not the best at updating the system, we are about 8 versions behind. I have been asked to install and host moodle on our server, but its a bit of a mind blower for a first timer. Does anyone have any clear step by step instructions for setting up a Server 2012 to run the latest version of moodle, php sql etc
-
That's the ticket, that worked a treat, thanks very much
-
Thanks for the quick response there, does that mean then I need to have a 32bit staff GPO and a 64bit Staff gpo, linked to the relevant wmi filter, otherwise I will not be able to have separate redirected folders for the icons.
-
I am finally introducing 64bit into our environment, and going with windows 8.1. I have two GPO's one for staff and one for students, both have folder redirection to a shared folder on the server that give them there desktop icons, each have a different share as they utilise different icons. I have been reading that a wmi filter is the best option but can't find any good instructions to follow as to how to achieve this. I would assume that I need to create a share for 32bit icons and one for 64 bits icons, then what I want is for example a staff member logs in, the system detects its 32 or 64 and gives them the relevant desktop Is that possible or is there another way of achieving this, if someone could provide good clear instruction it would probably (From what I have been reading) help a lot of people out.

No joy, same error, its just not pulling the details
-
yes, i have Use the same proxy server for all protocols ticked, should that be done.
-
Tried that, still dosen't work, i think its related to the internet explorer 11 admx not being setup correctly, as all browsers seem to pull the settings from there anyway, i have started a new thread for that chestnut.
-
Hi all I have installed the IE11 admx templates and they are showing in group policy on my 2012 server, the problem is i can not get the test pc to recongnies the settings for the proxy server. I have not configured any settings from User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\internet Explorer so that when i log in on the test computer i can browse all settings. I am unable to find anywhere in the above area to put the proxy settings, so i have created a new Internet Explorer 10 setting under User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Internet Settings and entered the proxy settings there. When i load IE11 on the test computer it says this page cannot be displayed, because i haven't touched any other settings i am then able to go to settings, internet options, lan settings, and see that the proxy server address is blank and the port is set to 80, not the settings i need.
-
Can any help with the Google Chrome proxy settings I have installed chrome on a windows 8.1 enterprise desktop, downloaded the admx template, however I cannot get it to work with our proxy server, The admx template only asks for the server address and not the port number. I have the proxy set for ie under the pupil gpo and the default domain gpo and it has always worked, but its not picking it up for chrome Has anyone else come across this before
-
I was installing into PolicyDefinitions\PolicyDefinitions, once i went back a step it worked.
-
Can any one help me with this. I have setup a windows 8.1 test computer in order to see if it will be suitable to roll out in school. Currently we are running windows 7 with server 2008r2, I have installed a server 2012 server and enabled group policy. I have installed the windows 8.1 admx templates into the central store, located on Server\windows\sysvol\domain\policies\policy definitions. I have copied these files to the c:\windows\policy definition on the 2012 server, but when i go to amend the pupils gpo it is not giving me any of the updated template settings. Does anyone know whats going on.
