  1. Looks simple enough to use this functionality, hopefully this will work. Unfortunately I can't test this out as the mail merge option is unavailable, it looks like google workspace admin has to enable this, i have emailed the IT department and waiting for their response. Many thanks pointing me out in the right direction.
  2. Many thanks for your reply, I will check it out.
  3. Hi All Currently we are using Gmail in our school for emails. Unfortunately this doesn't have mail merge functionality. Until now we had a webserver where I used a web application for mail merging purpose, due to cost reduction and updates to our school network, I don't have access to this webserver anymore. Could you please advise what's the best software to use for mail merge. I would appreciate if you let me know of any package you are currently using for mailmerge in your school. thanks in advance Anton Ponniah
  4. Hi All I figured this out by looking at an earlier thread - I have to use a RTF template to output the data. Thanks
  5. Hi All Wondering if there is a way to run a photo list report in Sims which can be adjusted to have more than one columns (also able to adjust the number of rows on the page). Currently when I run, the out put has only one column so the number of photos per page and the size of the photo can't be changed. What I would like to have is, able to adjust the columns and rows so I can control the number of photos on one page, which in turn adjust the phot size as well. Any help is much appreciated Thanks
  6. Worked a treat after changing the Pivot table source range (we have around 2000 students) ! Thanks very much and much appreciated!
  7. Great stuff.. just found the report.. somehow i overlooked this. Very useful - thanks for pointing this out.
  8. My email address is: [email protected] Thanks and much appreciated.
  9. Thanks all for your advice. I am creating a pivot report as per Sefton's advice. Please let me know if there is any Sims report definitions available to extract school summary data.
  10. There is only one report showing up under school report, named as 'GCX_Dummy', which only brings up the school name when i run it. I can see this report in 2011. There may be other reports like the one you mentioned above which i may have to import but i don't know where to find this.
  11. I would appreciate if you could share this report with me. I assume we can't do this in Simms directly? I can see that we can do counts for the existing groups in Sims but may be not for dynamic grouped sets?
  12. Hi All Wondering if it's possible design a report which will give me counts for grouped sets of data, for example, i need to know the number of occurrences of PPI in year 10 Boys, year 10 girls, etc.., is it possible to get this using a query in Simms. Currently I export this data to spreadsheet and do a count in the spreadsheet. This is time consuming and wondered if this can be done in Simms directly. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks Anton
  13. Not safeguarding issues (for this we have CPOMS), more about academic related - for example interventions. May be a bit pastoral/behavioural but if it's too sensitive then will go into CPOMS. I think we may have to create this document without any sensitive data, if it's too sensitive then it has to go into CPOMS.
  14. Yes - some of the information that goes will be pulled off from assessments and attendance, but mostly from the specific mark sheet edited by SLT and tutors - ALL SLT and tutors, there is no need for restrictions among them. What we are trying to achieve is to have a history of certain things happened to a student in one document from the beginning until they leave the school. It is more convenient to have it in Simms as this is the place that someone will be looking to find any details of the student. I think it will be hard to manage if it's on a shared drive. Thanks for your advice.
  15. Hi All In Assessment manager, i would like to create a linked documents which is only accessible to certain staffs, for example to tutors and SLT. I have been asked to create a document for each student which contains sensitive information. Information will be inputted by SLT and tutors, for this i am planning to create marksheets, which I assume can be easily assigned to tutors and SLT. I will then create the linked documents using the data from the mark sheet, which i want accessed only by SLt and tutors. I think everyone can access linked documents when you upload the documents to documents server, how can we restrict access to this? If this is not possible in Assessment Manager, is there any other way we can do this in Simms? Thanks Anton
  16. Hi All I have been asked to put %punctuality on the the individual report. Unfortunately, there is no ready made field available in AM. However, we should be able to calculate this using the available fields such as possible sessions, number of sessions late etc. Currently i calculate this manually and store in an aspect and display on the report. As you know this is time consuming and wondering if this can be achieved using the VBA. I assume you could add some codes in document_open () sub procedure to do this but how do i access those fields mentioned above or even this is possible? If anyone has ever done this before, could you please advise me how i can access those fields. Thanks in advance. Anton
  17. Thanks Esteban. I think you are right, this looks to do with file association issue as i have seen it's seem to be opening ok with some teachers with exact same version of office.
  18. Dear All I am having issues opening the linked documents which are uploaded using individual reports. I have been using this for years without any issues, since we update our word to 2019 from 2010 i can't open this, it only opens XML codes. Any advice will be much appreciated. Is there any way we can upload the linked documents in pdf format in simms. Thanks Anton
  19. Thanks for the suggestion, i am also thinking to do the same.
  20. Hi All I need some advice on the following issue. I am just designing a mark sheet which will record grade for tests. Number of tests can be around 16 per academic year however this can fluctuate; i am thinking to add 16 columns in the beginning and add additional columns as and when needed. I could create an aspect per each test or i create one aspect for each subject and create enough result sets (initially 16 result sets / one results set per test) and change the column headings on the mark book to reflect the appropriate test. In this way, i limit the number of aspects to around 20 (i have 20 subjects) as oppose to 320 aspects ( 16 * 20). I am wondering which is the best way to approach this, any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  21. Thanks, it worked a treat.
  22. but then I have to go through individual CTF files, this will be time consuming. Also these files are already processed in Sims by the admin staff and I can see the results individually, there must be some way to extract this data in Sims like I do with the internal students.
  23. Making a mark sheet is difficult as I don't exactly know what aspect holds the results, there are 190 student's results I need to extract - their results can be stored across so many different aspects. I don't know how to do this is report designer, do you think it is possible in report designer?
  24. Dear All I am trying to extract the exam results entered via CTF files in Sims, the students involve are new sixth form students who join our school in September. They have had their GCSE in their previous school and their results are imported into the Sims via CTF files. I can see their results individually using the examinations link but I can't export their results in exams module, this only exports the internal student results not for the external students who joined in September. Wondering if anyone know of a way to do this. Thanks in advance. Anton
  25. Good to know about the FFT aspire, will have a look at it. Thanks.
