I believe I have answered my own question. And hopefully this can help anyone else with the same sort of need. The answer came in my comment that the machine used to access the remote server was only monitoring and there was no direct interaction. Well then the computer becomes somewhat inactive even though we have set it to not go to screen saver. So I started process that keeps the machine busy. Since this we have not lost connectivity. However we did find some stability on a Windows 2000 machine which I quickly updated to XP. Problem appears to be taken care of now. Thanks again to all for the good feedback. All good comments. I downloaded ULTRA VNC yesterday. Unfortunately the same problem exists. A little more on our system. The system accessed is not a manned machine. It simply runs a program that must be monitored constantly from afar. The technician monitoring it does not interact with it at all they simply watch for errors. Don't even use a mouse on it unless of course they lose connection then they must once again log in. My fear is that something will get missed if they do not log in on time.

In this particular case there is no resolution change to take place. The machine we access does not have a monitor connected and sits in a server room. Thanks for the feedback.

Currently I use REAL VNC to access LINUX systems as well as Windows. When accessing my LINUX and UNIX systems I have no stability issues. However when accessing a windows machine I find that the connections simply closes out without warning quite often. Is ther a fix for this?
