Cheaper for those that have the vive already, as they can use their existing sensors. With these new generation headsets the resolution is meant to be noticably better, using LCD to minimise the gaps between pixels - although the darker areas will be a little washed out this sounds like a good move. I don't know what the perfomance will be like for an average GPU, but I suspect anyone wanting a good experience to have to upgrade that too, if they haven't aready got a top end card. Standalone headsets like the oculus quest will be pants in comparison. I can't wait to try one. It's definately the one I want to go with next...better get saving.

I only play games that are seated and just require me to move my head from side to side while using regular PC game controllers. My oculus rift with a single sensor above the monitor does this perfectly...You only need multiple sensors if wanting a lot of room for movement and dedicated VR controllers.

I took the plunge, albeit second-hand ( a bargain Rift for £110 on fleabay - just needed the padding replaced) and I think it's pretty amazing. I have a good GPU and so I can run it at high settings but the resolution is much better than I thought, ED is awesome - so much easier - and I was really blown away by Senua's Sacrifice. I won't be able to play either of those on a flat screen again. ED looks so restricted with it's tiny field of view on a regular screen now (and I have a 27" 1440 screen) There's no getting away from the slight blur at the edges and pixels that are visible, but you'll see them on any screen as close as a VR headset. It'll be a while before we all have GPUs capable of running higher resolutions in VR , but for now we have what we have. I love it.

What's your take on the resolution? Are the pixels really visible enough to spoil the effect a bit?

I'm tempted for the sake of Elite Dangerous (late to the party...) but will only get 2nd hand and sell on as soon as the novelty wears off. If there's no new tech coming to market we will make do with what we have for now. Anyone else try ED in VR? What's the verdict?

I doubt our school will request any money from the parent, but it is a lengthy process. one subject = all their emails and data, all emails and data from the entire domain that refer to or mention subject..... Surely more schools are having to do this and have worked out a really good and efficient process? There's probably a thread with lots of lovely info on here somewhere that I havn't found yet, so if anyone has seen one, please let me know.

Yes, narrowing it down would be useful! I will see what they come back with. Acrobat pro is good, yes. I have only tried it once, but I created one long PDF document with all the emails and using the redact tool you can filter for all email addresses and/or specific names. I was going to add all names we have in our system, staff and students, for the last few years and filter those out. It also then removes any data behind the redaction marks - just to make sure. Only issue I have found is that it then seems to want to convert certain sections into images that are no longer searchable, preventing me from running further searches, (I don't know why it does this yet) so they still need to be manually redacted, but it's easy enough. It should save many hours of work...

If the email thread is created in PDF format, wouldn't using Acrobat pro or similar with an auto redaction tool be easier than printing them all out and using a Sharpie? We have a request from a parent and have many thousands of emails to redact, I'm not doing that manually. What to other people use?

Hehe, best use yet. They don't even flinch....my kids would be fighting the nurse off.

On the Classes screen, on the class in question, click on the the class name/label (normally in bold) to open the Edit Class Details dialogue.

Samsung's Gear VR is OK for the simple stuff - Minecraft and educational kids stuff, but the big names don't seem to be able to strike that balance of gameplay and function. Either it's showing off VR nicely or it's a good idea for a game, but not both. I've not been tempted to go with Oculus or HTC yet, but saying that, as anyone tried Tomb Raider VR through Steam?
