there changing how the ranking system works for season 3, try playing the PTR you can test the season 3 to see what its like, i think its a lot better in the PTR

Through playing this and doing it for a bit, i realized that you only get the extra XP for the ball hitting the Pokemon inside the colored shrinking circle, the smaller the circle is the more XP you get
