  1. Hey - thanks for the fab replies. I've gone with comment aspects in marksheets for now to get comments onto individual reports. It's going swimmingly. We've got PARS, in the testing phase. Attendance & behaviour are set up & working but I can't get my head around grading and their wiki isn't terribly useful. Before I harass the helpdesk guys I thought I'd ask here - anyone doing grading in PARS? Did you have to go through a laborious process of importing all the aspects and associating them with results sets, year groups and subjects? Is there a shortcut? Also - do these SIMS aspects allow teachers to have a markbook setup, so they can keep track of their own stuff (class tests etc) separate from the main stuff we want in Assessments?
  2. I want to set up a report which I can use to print exam candidate cards. I've got as far as setting up an RTF template - but I can't get 4x cards to appear on one page (in a 2x2 grid layout). I either get all the data in the first block, or I get 4x of the same card on one page, depending on where I've put the and tags. Is there any way to get it to put 4x records on a page, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Would another 'presentation' be better than RTF? I'm using it because I want to include photographs, and need to be able to go into the document and add in exam access arrangements (because I can't see a report which has both AA details and a photo as standard in SIMS- if there is one please do tell me!)
  3. Yep. I just closed and re-opened. Assume it's a glitch somewhere but as SIMS seem to pretty much ignore Exam Organiser there's not much point flagging it up. Hopefully fixed in the long-awaited-update which is coming.... sometime.
  4. Question for SIMS users - Who is responsible for creating the reports (I mean setting up, not entering teacher grades & comments, obvs) that go to parents? We currently do course-grades reports (grades only, no comments) in SIMS, but for 'full' reports we have a complicated word-doc-and-mail-merge process. I'm keen to move all reporting onto SIMS, BUT we've just decided to get PARS (by TASC). It can handle reports as well. My questions are -does anyone have experience of both? Which would be better for reports? Can we enter comments via assessment and have them pulled into PARS reports? How about the other way around? and finally - how do YOU do reporting in your school? Through assessment? Profiles? Some other software / process?
  5. For attendance you could look at TASC Software | PARS Connect
  6. Hi All We're a SIMS School. We're looking to get either Lesson Monitor or TASC PARS - both have been demo'ed to us, and both look good. I was wondering if anyone had experience of either (or both) and could share some of the pro's and con's of each? Thanks!
  7. Hi all, I'm new to not only sims but also EY stuff. The Prep school I now work at is wanting to move to doing all their assessment and tracking in SIMS, so I have downloaded all the templates etc in the "AMPARK" release and imported them. I have no idea how many of them I now need to turn into marksheets for data entry, though - I've had a look through the templates and they all seem to be very similar. Is there any guidance on which ones I should be using, or do I need to sit with the teachers and ask them which ones they need? Also: I created a termly tracking marksheet for reception year (EY TT DataEntry Reception YR HT) for the reception teacher to have a look at and she says that the gradeset shoudl be 12,3 not 2s,e,d 3s,e,d.... is this something I need to change? Is she misunderstanding the grade set? Many thanks!
