  1. Dear All I am looking for some help with a troublesome issue with RES Workspace Manager. We are currently running into Temporary profiles on Windows 7 x64 Ent. I am constantly having to clear them from new / old PC every couple of weeks. When a user logons they are either assigned a TEMP profile or username.domain.001 everytime a temporary profile is assigned. I have been in touch with RES and they have provide with a fix. But this only lasts maybe month at best and is eating away at our support time. Here is the fix we apply in with a combinaition of RES fix, M$ and ourselves: Logon to the PC as Administrator Restart the PC Once the PC has rebooted UNC to PC \\%PCNAME%\C$\Users. Now delete all old profiles apart from Public and default. Now delete the contents (not folder) of default folder. Copy & paste the following contents below to default folder: (New default Profile) \\server\fixes\Default Open regedit from your PC and remotely connect to the PC. Now select the PC’s HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList Now remove the long entries of starting with S-1-5-21 but not three entries starting with S-1-5-18 to 20 as these are local users. Next right click on HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and change the permissions. Now add Authenticated Users with full control. Then select Advance button and apply Inherited permissions. This will allow users to have full control of their profile in the registry. Next you will need to clear the cache registry entries for UpdateGUIDs folder: 32-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RES\Workspace Manager 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\RES\Workspace Manager Next right click on 32-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RES\Workspace Manager 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\RES\Workspace Manager And change the permissions. Now add Everyone Group and set to full control. Then select Advance button and apply inherited permissions. This will allow ITNET users to have full control of their profile in the registry. Once cleared, UNC to PC and delete the following folders; Mandatory profile and Mandatory Profile.V2 from: 32-Bit: C$\Program Files\RES Software\Workspace Manager\Data\DBCache\Resources\custom_resources 64-Bit: C$\Program Files (x86)\RES Software\Workspace Manager\Data\DBCache\Resources\custom_resources Next navigate to the follow folder: 32-Bit: C$\Program Files\RES Software\ 64-Bit: C$\Program Files (x86)\RES Software Now change the folder permissions under folder properties. Add the Everyone group to the folder and set to full control. In advance button, select inherit permissions. This allow the user to have full control of mandatory folders and give RES control of the programs folder in which it sits in. (Full Control recommend by RES, bit of security hole in my eyes). Restart the PC, this will update the PC with the latest Mandatory Profile and registry entries. Now test the PC with a user account to ensure that the PC is picking up the new settings. Check C:\Users for User with "DOMAIN".001. If none then no more temporary profiles. If there are, then you may need to clear the user’s pwrmenu. See AD profiles entries for further information. Next you will need to clear the user’s PC history, check AD for the user’s profile path and navigate to their pwrmenu. Now remove any entries with .his. This will clear their PC history. Ask them to logon and check c:\users again. If no luck then try a reinstall of RES and ensure you tick Automatic Start-up from the 2012 install and Install auto upgrade pack 9.9 from \\server\clients folder. Then re-apply step 9 to the Program files directory for RES. Any advice would be greatly appricated. IXP
