The roller on the transfer unit at the K toner end appears to have started to disintegrate and is very deformed. It has also pierced the belt which runs across it, meaning the entire transfer unit will need replacing at a cost of about £272 for parts (+vat). The faulty part can be removed by: removing all toner cartridges, clicking out the 4 vertical pieces on the right hand side (looking from front to back) and undoing the 2 screws holding the transfer unit. We may instead go for a new printer! Once again, thanks for all your help.

Thanks to all for your quick replies.It is good to know that people with your experience are willing to give people without (like me!) the benefit. It looks like it could be a fairly expensive bit of damage! I will investigate further in the area you have indicated.

Can anyone shed any light on what this error code is, please? The printer has been getting noisier and jamming frequently and now just emits a few thumps and this error message is shown. Thanks.
