1. Brilliant - that was what I was waiting to hear ! I was nervous of creating an additional DNS zone that couldn't be reconciled to the main one so that is good to know. In the interim I have found that DNS should not be installed with Exchange in any case so have now deleted the role from that server and modified DHCP to reflect the new dns server. Many thanks for your help!
2. Hi Michael, Thanks for that but there is nothing configured at all and I am wary of adding a new zone in case I mess up what is already there. Surely it should have picked up from server 2? I have this : BTW I have added DNS to server 3 and it has installed fully populated as expected.

4. I have just taken over at a new school that has some 'interesting' configuration. One item is that there are three DCs(all servers are w2k8r2 and all are DCs). Server 2 is primary DC with all FSMO and server 1 and 2 have DNS installed. My issue is that server 1 DNS entries are entirely empty. Nothing configured at all in the fwd lookup zones or anywhere else Normally I would have expected this to have been configured at DCpromo and populate then but I cannot see a way to get it to populate. Do I need to demote an promote or is there a simple way to fix this? I am very wary of breaking this network as I am not that experienced with DNS and this is the production environment so I would be grateful for any constructive assistance.
