Hi all, i've been trying on and off for a while trying to get this to work but keep giving up as i just cant get my head around it - i'm back to trying again now and looking for some help in my quest... first a bit of background we have a sharepoint site (with SLG) that is accessible via our website on a seperate public IP - authentication is by basic authentication. we have a Sonicwall firewall that does all the NATing, firewall features, security etc we also have an ISA sever onsite with one NIC that we use as a proxy server. how can i get our sharepoint site to use FBA via the ISA? my thinking is sharepoint site (External)-> Firewall -> ISA Server ->sharepoint site (internal) if im correct how should i configure? allow the firewall on the external address NATed to the ISA? then NAT on ISA to the internal sharepoint site? help would be great...its been killing me since last Jan! Cheers

Hi all, am trying to get my Windows 7 deployment sorted and after a week of trying with differnet answer file configs i've hit a brick wall so i'm after some help...answer file is below - can anyone see any major problems with it? i'm using mysysprep2 on it as i want it to ask for a computer name and to also require to input the product key seperatly. everything else i want to be unattened. Last time i used it (before i left today) i got an error with the specialize section and failed to run. Also - how can i set the answer file not to ask for my language? Cheers

ok here's the deal i'll try keep it simple cuz it get fairly confusing! we have our internet supplied by our LEA via Redstone via a cisco pix we have our own firewall with an internal IP and external ip (from the pix) default gateway is firewall internal ip our ISA server is our proxy server again with an internal ip address we use the ISA to block website's and block access to the internet etc our LEA have setup an advanced filtering system for us to use - we have been given a web proxy address - which we can have the ip address for what we want to do is...have our users go to the isa for our blocking then to the LEA advanced filtering. my thinking is somehow we can set the ISA to direct its internet to the advanced filtering proxy, rarther than going to the default gateway....cant for the life of me work out how though...total thinking loss..any help would be...well would be amazing!

got to admit it really motivated me for the day when i had it arrive in my inbox at 8:30 this morning! wish i worked in leeds...NOT! how the person who sent this around (BTW is was the BSF Programme Director for Coventry) though that it would be a benefit is beyond me! i have to wonder what sort of IT Support they had before the managed service! surely it was...well nothing if they are letting teachers of all people delve into machines!

been done i just want to give him some info to say that this isnt just a Senior Tech job its an assitant network manager job
-
Hi all, i'm in the process of approaching the boss for an job review - i feel im doing more of an Assistant Network Manager role. considering the Network Manager is the Business Manager - i think i'm doing more than the role of a Senior Technician has anyone got any job descriptions they can send over for me to look at/hit him with? Many thanks Matt

Ok, here's a good one for you...help would be good if there is anyone out there... we are in the process of getting setup with display screens around the school site...very exciting... we have a new building that has a massive external white wall...the SMT have suggested maybe projecting onto the wall to make use of the space. I think it would look the dogs...but i cant find a way to go about it. my thoughts are that projecting during the day would leave a non visable image, going to rear projection will affect/alter the wall....i thought about short throw projector...but still think this will leave us with a poor image in the day time... any other school been mad enough to do this? Matt

Did they? i never got one...

would love them all in one office...ideal solution is all in one office, with service desk next to it. with me a nm next door too...just trying to get SMT to understand this is a better, staff like the idea of having someone close by..tho they moan when that person isnt in their office...like they expect them sat waiting for them..but thats a different story! thanks for all the ideas people, but me in a better frame of mind for tomorrow...going to draw up some ideas and speak to NM, and have a chat with tech's. by the way...the Nm is the business manager...doesnt help matters sometimes but good when i need a new server!

ive only been in the role since april...sounds and feels along time ago since then but have been fire fighting ever since. i am desperate to set structure into the team, but is forever blocked by the NM, no school ICT policies, not written documentation on well anything, the team come and go as they please, most days turn up late and leave early...nm enforces the whole must be in at such time but they carry on being late...end of the day there is no consequence to their actions. i could go on...would really like to take in what staff want from the support team, then what we are doing, take the two...add in some FITS stuff and see where we go...but again blocked by NM....

not at all trying to conceal my identity...i was registered on here before but forgot my details, attempted to reset password and got caught up in the whole secuirty word/phrase thing and it wouldnt accept my details. its a difficult time as they are all young staff 21 and below, so maturity is well not good. i just compare a few of them to the others...some work hard and do work, others well dont. being young it seems like they are still in the school stage and think work is play time. problem its the older ones with the problems...the young ones are amazing at what they do. seems like i shall have to review their work loads more closely

yeah we have a helpdesk system...difficult to fully pin point them with it though...ive got one tech who hasnt closed a job in around a week and spent two weeks transfering video from camera to pc to dvd...only a days worth of filming, no editing required...but insists on sitting there watching the video transfer....drives you mad...motivation of a dead fish! on the infrastructure topic.... supporting around 650pc's 200 laptops 15 IWB's - 30 projectors all spread over 6 area's running our own ISA server, emal server, NAS storage, 3 DC's running on a 1GB network supporting e-learning development projects so you think we are over staff? sometimes i think we might be...

Hi all, hope everyone is well..we have including myself 10 members of IT Support Staff. I dont think we are being productive enough, and some of them are spending too much time sat in their office doing well to be blunt nothing. we are all spread around the site so its difficult to monitor them. as the person in charge or as good as...i want to do a review on them but be it so they dont really notice it to be a review...you know what will happen, they will start doing work the moment you mention it! im at a point where im fed up of working like a slave and wanting to achive in the rle and do well for the school, and they are gettin paid to doin nothing and not caring....sooner employ someone else to do the job whop wants to work there! tho my boss says its not easy to just get rid of ppl...tho im sure there are loop holes we can ping them on to speed up the process.... any thoughts or ideas would be good...
