  1. OK, I'm getting somwehere. I have the XML working fairly reliably I just need to build on what it contains now , however I have discoved one issue that I'm not sure as yet how to get around. Anything relating to %allusersprofile% microst office applications is working and displays nicely on client machines , however adobe reader and pro x just leave a gap on the start menu? this is also the case with IE , but that is slightly more understandable as it is looking at %appdata% - this is a sample of the xml below. Has anyone encountered similar?
  2. I'll have another look into the XML tomorrow, we've only had one art room and some offices on Windows 10, so it's been on the back burner. But following some installs this half term I really need to pull my finger out and get a good look at it (the XML that is, not my finger).
  3. Hi all (long time lurker, infrequent poster) I've been searching and reading but am yet to come up with a solid answer. I am trying to get start menu re-direction in order (eg - computer sub category with computing apps in, science category , IT category etc) but am finding I just get a long list of apps instead. Failing that I'd like to get the XML looking tidier but that also seems convoluted and it seems you have to delete the user profiles each time you update the XML. has anyone been successful without using classic view? apologies if this has all been covered but I've been unable to find a definitive answer that didn't lead back to classic view. Windows 10 is doing my nut in!, If I had any hair left I'd be tearing it out!
  4. Is it possible to get an Access database to E-mail a specified address each time someone updates it? I have an Intranet form set up that updates an access database when a staff memeber fills it out. I tried to check server extensions so that I could send to a file and to E-mail recipient but this did not work (doesn't seem to be set up? ). Can I set up something in access or add some script into my form to make it update my database and e-mail the database manager? I've never really played around with this stuff before so any help would be much appreciated.
  5. Many Thanks DaveP. I'll look forward to a reply Martin *any news*
  6. If they have a doublebass that they would like to sell/get rid of. I've always fancied giving it a go as I'm a good bass guitar player. I'd like to see if I can use my skills on the double bass to create an old 50's style rockabilly sound. must be 3/4 size (standard jazz size) condition not important. many thanks Martin
  7. just cleaned the dust off the heatsink and fans (not too much on there) .......it seems to have done the trick, I didn't realise how much trouble a small ammount of dust could cause. I've left the machine running with the case off for a while to see how it behaves, seems ok at the moment
  8. yes, I've got a burn mark on the end of my finger to prove it
  9. Got a bit of a problem, I've got a P4 machine here and the processor is running incredibly hot within seconds of being switched on. The fan is working as is the power supply fan. No other components are running hot just the Pentium 4 chip. I don't wan't to switch the machine on again as I don't wan't to do more damage. It powers on but does not even get as far as BIOS before switching itself off. Should I replace the mainboard or do you think the processor or something else is at fault? many thanks Martin
  10. I've replaced over 80 A-Open MX4 and MX36 LE Motherboards that have had this problem. Lucky for us RM offered to send them to us free of charge......even though it wasn't strictly their problem.

  14. I have set up a template with a form entery. I have password proctected it. But when doing so the spell check is grayed out and I need pupils to be able to check their spelling while they complete the form.
  15. How can allow spell check in Word 2000 on a protected document?

  17. Hi All, I'm having a bit of a problem sharing an Epson Stylus D62 between 4 machines on a RM CC3 Network. The printer is locally attached to a machine through a USB connection...this is working fine. The printer is shared with a share name of LibraryD62, and is made available in the RM CC3 Management console. This has then been allocated to the remaing 3 machines in the room that need a share to the printer. When logging on to these machines the share is visible, but if you try to print it goes to the print queue and registers as 'printing', this is how it stays but it never gets as far as the printer. any ideas as to why this might be? Thanks
  18. Deerwood is right, the dry erase marker trick usually works a treat!
  19. Hey First post here, BadCopy Pro is a brilliant program for recovering corrupt data from floppies, USB flash devices, hard disks etc....... It's free but I can't remember where I got it from, possibly tucows. A Google search should find it.
