Schools SIMS Assistant - Fixed Term 2 Years - Jobs Ref COR/015/18 Vacancy type Full time Location Quattro Building, Warrington Description Corporate Services - IT Service You would be responsible for providing support to the IT Schools Team in relation to incidents and requests logged for support via the Online2200 system in relation to the SIMS and FMS systems used in Schools. You will also be required to assist with project activities associated with the work of the Schools team and assist with any administration and maintenance of other Schools systems used as appropriate You will need to have experience of working in an office environment, be confident, manage your own workloads effectively, be able to liaise and negotiate appropriately with other staff within the IT service and staff in other Services within the Council where necessary in relation to your post. Supplementary Information Applicants should be aware of the importance that Schools administration and the systems used play in the overall Business Management of schools. Applicants must have an ability to use MS Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint), have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good telephone manner, be able to think and work logically and have ability to use initiative in assessment and resolution of problems/situations. You would ideally have a good understanding of processes involved in service delivery in relation to Service/Help desk environment.   2. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic professional to support, develop and maintain Warrington Borough Council’s Schools Support Team. The successful candidate will work within the ICT Service leading the Schools Support Team; who currently support all Warrington Schools (LA Maintained and Academies) in the use of their MIS system (SIMS). You will oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of the services delivered; and monitor and report on performance. You will manage the financial aspects of the services provided including preparation of quotes for work, charging for services delivered and managing services within the defined budget. You will also identify opportunities to work with new customers and develop new services that are commercially viable for the Council and aligned to the needs of Warrington’s schools. As such, experience of managing a technical team in an ICT related function is essential. There is increasing demand on ICT within local government to manage costs and maximise value. The Schools Support Team must constantly look for more effective ways to deliver a service that is fit for purpose and aligned to business needs whilst ensuring costs are kept under tight control. This is a necessity for the Council and Warrington’s schools. You will be expected to understand the requirement of Schools to comply with statutory obligations and LA requirements in terms of data returns and statistical information gathering. This is an important and pivotal role in the ICT Service which is very customer focussed. As such, the successful candidate must have experience in a similar role. The ability to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary technical project teams is essential; as is the ability to liaise with peers and senior managers inside the Council and across Warrington’s schools.
