Defo 24hrs without touching, and it has updated and now sends as the new name. So must be an address book of some sorts ms uses in the background that needs to update.
Thanks for your help
Something definitely happens after 24hrs. I had another little play yesterday around 11.20, and today just after that an email came though off the user with the new email address. Trouble is I've played again today! Doh. So hopefully tomoz around this time it should have settled down. I wont touch now til then. Thanks boredguy.
24hrs down, and it still sends from the old address. Any ideas?
Is there a powershell script to change the primary email for dirsync similar to the upn username, just incase something hasn't registered properly like that?
I know ive experience delays when adding new people before they show up in the address book etc. And that was a thought I had on this issue. perhaps I just sit and wait for 24 and see tomoz!
I have a user that wants to change their surname due to getting married, and I don't want to setup a new mailbox/user etc.
Sounds simple enough. To go from [email protected] to [email protected]
I've renamed then user in AD, changed their email address in the same pop up window, and resync'd dirsync.
The UPN didn't change by syncing, so I had run the powershell script set-msoluserprincipalname to get that to change
I've also added her old email address into the proxy address via adsi edit. the mail attribute shows her new address
Her windows login has now changed as expected, also outlook prompted for her new login details, and she sees all her old emails and receives emails from her new and old addresses, but email sends from her old address.
What have I missed?
