I had the same problem. Create a local administrator account - the simplest way is elevated CMD and type: net user administrator /active:yes then type: net user administrator password (where the password is the password of your choice) Then logon local PC with the administrator account.

Thanks for the update regarding Libresoft Librarian, it looks as though we will be going down that road, primarily because of cost but also the very aggressive attitude of a salesperson at MLS. back to MLS - how on earth can the school name change if it requires a re-install? Beyond me ... Only a couple of weeks ago our school name headed the labels and the base footer of MLS.

Hi there We have been using Junior Lib 3 for some time now without support, (costly) and for some odd reason that I can't fathom the name of our school has changed to another school in the left-hand footer of Librarian. I have trawled through the settings and the folders and can't find where Librarian is picking up the school name to display. has anyone any ideas?

Three classes had all of the Learnpads out and loaded an already created blank PPT on the student drive so that they could save back to that location. After a short while of working, we had access violations, corrupt files, loss of connection, having to refresh, turn off/turn on, refresh etc. etc re-login etc. nearly all of the ppts became corrupted, losing the students work. So annoying and frustrating. And without phone support, how to fix?? Truly rubbish, Avantis.

What Windows Touchscreen Laptops are you using?

We have 64 Learnpads and chargers. We constantly have to refresh the pads so they can find the network. Avantis support blames our Meru wireless... And this summer, due to the heat- they turn themselves off when it gets hot! They are not perfect, but they do have some redeeming features. e.g. dashboard - sending resources and lessons to individual pads or across the whole lot. We recently had a look at Avantis Windows 10 laptops. Very light - perhaps too light (flimsy) pre-loaded with the Home version - useless - would have to re-image to Pro Edu version - only 32gb HDD which would be reduced by installing Win 10 Edu. Although, memory can be increased by using MicroSD cards, however, little fingers would soon be removing these! So not a useful alternative, despite their very attractive price. Oh, and they did promise to send the school one so that we could see how it performed attached to the domain... That was over six weeks ago and still no hardware... We will not be buying any more from Avantis and will be looking at small laptops (Toshiba, Samsung et al), running Windows in the future.

Avantis have changed their telephone support for LearnPads - you have to pay for it now. Their email support is free, but guess what - they do not respond. So, I have a tech question - the Avantis ebook reader app doesn't work. Opens then closes. Anyone any ideas?

Hi My PC updated windows 10 yesterday and during restart, it froze. I rebooted and now get Verifying dmi pool data. Tried using Windows 10 disk to do a repair but get -" Your system was updating, to continue remove media and restart" Which brings me no further than Verifying DMI pool data Any help would be appreciated. No, I haven't. I did see this hotfix but this applies to Server 2012 r2 and as our server is 2008 r2 so I am reluctant to do so.

Hi Following on from my last message, nI have discovered that I cannot edit any of the existing GPOs in our single domain. We recently changed our IP range and had a bit of an issue with DNS and since then if I try to edit and apply a setting to an existing GPO I get The specified server cannot perform the requested operation Interestingly, the details of a GPO are listed but when I edit one of them it says it is not configured. Can anybody help, please?

Forget my last message. The network cable had somehow worked loose from the switch port. Connected fine now. Duh!

I have a strange problem with a Lenovo ix2-dl NAS Recently increased our network IP address range and gave the NAS a static address in the range. I can mount its share on a local PC using an IPv4 with the same static address within the same range. However, when I plug the NAS into a small switch so that I can connect to it through the network - cannot find the NAS. Cannot ping its address. Any clues?
