  1. Hi All, I'm relatively new to the HP switching world and was hoping someone could provide me with some advice. Over the past few months, two separate cabinets have developed an issue of losing connection back to the core switch. The lights on the switch look normal, but at the core switch side the SFP module has no lights/traffic. The only way to resolve the issue is to manually power cycle the switches. Usually this was happening once every few weeks, but it has happened twice this morning. Restarting the core switch has no effect. At first I thought maybe it was a firmware issue, but both of the cabinets are on completely different revisions. We have around 10 cabinets dotted around the site in total and only these 2 are experiencing the issue. Could it be that we have introduced a loop into these cabinets and loop-detection is killing SFP? If that is the case, how would we go about resolving/identifying the issue? Would be really grateful for any input, am in a bit of pickle now!
  2. Update.... I seem to get the below error message in the logs when attempting to download a file with a SSO user (it hangs)... Fri Jan 18 2019 19:08:40 GMT+0000 (GMT Standard Time) <264> -- error -- jetpack.find call failed With the non SSO users I don't get the message and the download is instant.
  3. Hi, I'm experiencing a really weird issue that I can't seem to get to the bottom of. My tenancy is using Azure AD connect with Passthrough Auth. So far, everything seems to be working fine, including the SSO. We're soon going to be moving all of our staff over to Microsoft teams. When using SSO for teams login on the desktop app, If I attempt to download a file from a team it hangs for around 20-30 seconds (then successfully downloads the file). If I use an account that isn't yet synced to office 365 or licensed and login manually, it doesn't crash and downloads fine. Why is it crashing on download for users logged in via SSO??! Please help!! Regards, Jamie
  4. I'll have to remind myself on Monday about how we went about blocking it...
  5. This is apparently fixed as of Leeds - 2 update, we haven't got round to updating yet though
  6. Hi All, For our particular case, it was solved by adding the "Remove QUIC Header" under content modification policies. It may be worth reading the smoothwall article again as he did say they updated it recently as google changed their CSS.
  7. When you take into account that they can add spaces, commas, hyphens and full stops in between characters, there's a hell of a alot of combinations they can make. Jonathan @ Smoothwall support just solved this issue for us!
  8. Hi, We've been in touch with customer support a few times regarding google games but they can't come up with a solution. Students are able to get access to google games, simply by searching "snake" etc. There was a knowledge article on how to block it, but it doesn't actually work - even with an engineers help, his professional diagnosis was "it's out of date". As a work around, we've blocked certain search terms but students can easily get round it using "s.n.a.k.e" etc... Has anyone else came across this? If so, what did you do?
  9. Every single machine has an SSD here. Hibernation for an HDD is primarily about power savings. SSDs require significantly less power than an HDD, so that mitigatesthe "power-saving" "advantage". When you factor in extending your SSD's lifespan, even by a relatively small percentage, the scale tips in favor of disabling hibernation.
  10. Our policy states members of staff should look out of the room before locking the door and pull in any staff/pupils. Speakers don't get turned off here and our PC's don't hibernate. Machines are on all day from 8 till 6. Works well for us - but each to their own.
  11. The alert we send also has a sound file attached which staff are aware of, meaning even if they don't see the alert, they'll hear it.
  12. We actually use netsupport notify. We send staff workstations a codeword which all staff are aware of, which indicates the building is in lockdown and they need to lock their doors.
  13. Hi, I've got a couple ideas but wanted to get some input on how exactly is the best way to do this. Currently our CCTV is on a completely separate physical network to the main network. Recently, we have gone from a flat network to a VLAN'd network and are thinking about adding the CCTV network to this in order to be able to run any additional cameras back to the nearest network cab rather than physical cables back to the Server Room. The NVR is currently connected to the main network through its secondary NIC so we're able to watch footage over the network. We use Procurve switching throughout. Can anyone recommend the best practice for this? Help is appreciated!
  14. We've been using Arbor for a few months now and it seems to do the job well. We were previously using Facility. Staff love how easy it is to use. Report building has been a bit of a challenge for us - just doesn't go as far in depth as what Facility did, but we did have it completely customised!! Only downside is their support is lacking. Even when I've had a serious issue and needed to speak to someone right away I've been told I have to "wait for support to call me back" (Which once took 3 days....)
  15. Hi all, I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice on smoothwall filtering with Lync 2013. We seem to be okay making calls to other lync users but when it comes to Lync hosted webinars, we are unable to join the call. Does anyone know what exactly needs to be configured for lync to work with smoothwall? I've been in touch with smoothwall support but they weren't very helpful. Regards, Nispire
  16. The secureclient doesn't actually write to registry, meaning you basically setup a working configuration and then package and distribute it. Personally, I use WinRAR and create an SFX package. Adding the /s installation command in the package properties after importing will make it install silently.
  17. Hi All, Just a quick question, is there a way to stop reports from being generated against a certain user type? We really want to roll this feature out to certain members of staff, but we do not want them running reports against other members of staff, only students. Help is appreciated!! Jamie Stevens
  18. We've managed to package office 2013 on a CC4 network with a small glitch. The package installs fine, but shows as installed after a few seconds on RM Console, yet you can still see the installation still happening. It's weird, i'm not entirely sure what's causing it.
