We are seeking to fulfil a short term contract vacancy, initially for a three month period, but with a possible extension.
We need a senior Technician/Network Engineer for a third line support role. We are currently running a fully virtualised RM CC4.3 Matrix system, comprising of 6 Host’s and an EMC San for storage. We have about 500 machines, including laptops, as well as our BYOD system comprising VMware View, RDS and Office 365.
The ideal candidate will need to have the following experience:
Server 2008 R2/Server 2012 R2
Active Directory and group policy administration.
VMware/vSphere/vCenter v5.5
Network support/trouble shooting skills (DHCP, DNS, vlans, knowledge of HP Switches would be advantageous).
Firewall support, we use Palo Alto Networks.
Knowledge of Windows 7/8 and Linux (Debian experience preferred) would be essential.
Website site support, including HTML5, JavaScript/PHP/MySQL. Knowledge of CMS (Joomla).
Knowledge of internet filtering systems would also be desirable, especially Clearswift.
We also need support for our BYOD installation. This is comprised of Terminal Services servers running alongside of Horizon VMware View on two of our Hosts. We also need support for the authentication system we have implemented for our Office 365 which is integrated through Microsoft to our AD system.
Desirable, although not essential, experience of Exchange server 2010, and managed wireless network (Ruckus).
This role involves working within a very busy educational environment, being part of a support team.
You will also need to be flexible, as the role will also include I.T. classroom support, plus cover over lunchtime supporting student computer use. You should also be comfortable working with a wide range of users as you will be interacting with Teachers, Administrative staff and students etc. So a good sense of humour is essential.
