Hey all,
I'm posting to see whether it is possible to increase the 64 copy limit on shadow copies?
After trawling through the internet, I've found a registry hack which is supposed to increase the 64 limit to a maximum of 512. This is done by adding a DWORD registry value at HKLM > System > CurrentControlSet > Services > VSS > Settings then create MaxShadowCopies (512).
This doesn't seem to be working for me though. The articles I did read for were server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 etc, so may not be applicable for 2012 R2.
I also seen another article stating if smb2 is disabled then users can see more then the 64 copy limit. Although I don't believe this is applicable, as no additional space has been used on our dedicated VSS drive. Additionally there are only 62 shadows copies available under the 'shadow copies' tab on the drive.
Would anyone be able to help me with increasing this limit?
Many thanks in advance!
