To authenticate via http you can encode the username and password in the URL. You can test this via a browser. What's the url you want to connect to? I have some scripts that may be able to do this for you.

Why are those boxes so expensive - a PC costs £200, so how is the onelan player £1800. Why did samsung (magicnet) and 3M back disasters? What's needed is something that just works on any PC, with most schools having a good broadband connection, surely a software as a service communications system (digital signage) would be the answer. That way it can be tested from the comfort of a browser, seen to be working and if it doesn't work, can be switched off with no additional costs. If anyone out there is interested in talking with me, I'd be happy as I've had about 14 years working in IT / Digital Signage and it's amazing the rip offs out there, given that this is a pretty easy concept. One consideration for Onelan is that it's difficult to control more than one screen if you want to show different content on different screens. I'd be interested to know if anyone has experience of running onelan in a multi screen / multi channel setup. I know that the guys at plasmanet are offering template design advice and data connectors so that you can update onelan content directly from excel etc.
