Mander Portman Woodward is an independent fifth- and sixth-form college located in South Kensington. We are currently looking for a full-time IT Technician.
IT Technicians are part of a department which has responsibility for all IT systems, along with telecommunications and audio-visual equipment. As an IT Technician, your duties would include:
Day-to-day support:
Responding to requests in a timely manner, and prioritising support requests according to the needs of the college.
Ensuring that support requests are properly recorded, tracked, and completed, including those received verbally.
Performing hardware repairs in-house where possible. Liaising with suppliers and support contractors to arrange service when needed.
Escalating issues which cannot be resolved to the Group IT Manager.
Providing advice and assistance on how to use the equipment and software at the college.
Keeping IT workspaces and storage areas clean and organised.
System maintenance:
Performing daily maintenance on servers and shared resources.
Monitoring and maintaining the centralised backup systems.
Inventory management:
Tracking the booking, loan and return of portable resources, and ensuring they remain in operational condition.
Installing hardware and software as directed by the Group IT Manager.
Maintaining inventories of all equipment and software
Ensuring that all equipment is secured and has identification markings applied.
Maintaining stocks of consumables and liaising with the Group IT Manager to ensure stocks are ordered in good time.
Arranging disposal of equipment and consumables, in conjunction with the Building Manager and appropriate suppliers.
You will need to be familiar with Microsoft Windows, Windows Server and Office. You will also have good experience with Mac OS X, iOS and Android devices, PC hardware diagnosis and a working knowledge of PC networking.
Experience with Microsoft Exchange, and with educational technology such as Interactive Whiteboards would be an advantage.
Salary: £24,000 - £30,000 per annum
28 days holiday per annum.
