Not sure if this is the right place to post!
Like many schools we have a large group of TAs ranging across the scales/grades. We try and ensure the L3 and HLTAs are allocated high need students and scale those needs down through the other TA levels.
All the timetabling is done by hand. We start off with a great A3 piece of paper showing TAs, subjects and then the individual child.
Then someone goes off sick and out comes the eraser and pencil. At the same time the HLTA responsible for the morning madness has to then communicate to the TAs any changes, normally written down on scraps of paper!
Someone please tell me this can be done in a far more advance ways, preferably with a simple piece of software I.e. Excel and the ability to quickly update and print out
