Hi there, i'm a bit of a newbie with macs so please bear with me... After updating one of our AD bound (using the golden/magic triangle) imacs from 10.8 to 10.11 (or even 10.10) any new user account we create in AD or any user who has previously NOT logged into one of the imacs before the upgrade is unable to save, I believe this is due to an everyone no access persmission being added to the mac home folders (desktop,documents,music,movies etc.)as shown in attachment 1. Users who have previously logged onto a mac before when it was running 10.8 do not have this issue and are able to use it without a problem. Looking on the Windows side of things for new users with this issue, even when trying to access the Mac home folders as admin on the file server we get access denied with an everybody deny permission in force as shown in attachment 2. Again users who have previusly logged into a machine running 10.8 do not have this permission on their home folders. I know there was a thread about a similar issue recently but I couldn't find a definitive answer. Any help would be much appreciated as we are looking to upgrade our whole suite soon.

OK Thanks guys I was hoping that since we are on 10.9.4 they may have got their act together and fixed it by now. Oh well I guess we won't be upgrading to mavericks anytime soon.

OK, So I am attempting to upgrade our mountain lion imacs to mavericks over the summer holidays. I have run into an issue, after upgrading and re installing mavericks (10.9.4) onto one of the imacs joining it up to AD and OD all seems to be going fine however once I log in with an AD users profile a message pops up immediately saying 'mac os x needs to repair library to run applications' and asks for admin credentials, even after putting in the requested information the message will pop up again after around 30 seconds and will not go away no matter how many times I enter the admin details. I have also noticed that as soon as an AD user logs into this mac they will no longer be able to access their documents back on a windows PC, not even a domain admin can access their documents without first resetting the permissions, luckily I was only logging in using a test account so it didn't cause any damage. Does anyone know if there is any known fix or workaround for this?

Hi all...I am wondering if anyone give me a hand with the following issue that we would like to resolve. The majority of the PCs we have are windows based and are managed using AD and GPO. User accounts are also managed and created through AD. We have a suite of 15 iMacs running OS X 10.8.5 and an Xserve running OS X 10.9.4 with OS X Server 3.1.2 running Open directory and Profile Manager. I have set up the 'golden' or 'magic' triangle configuration where the macs are bound to both AD and OD and so far everything seems to be working, the users are able to login in to the macs with their active directory credentials but the bit we want to change has to do with the home folders. At the moment we have the option 'Force local home directory on startup disk' disabled which is how we would like to have it so that the users can access documents created on PC on macs and vice versa now this does work however, whenever a user logs into one of the macs for the first time it creates all of the home folders (desktop, documents, music etc.) in the root of the users folder. If the user logs back into a windows based machine they can see all of these new folders within their documents so for example a user will login go to their documents folder and within that folder there will be another folder called documents which is where the macs save to. Is there any way of setting it up so that the macs create all these folders within another folder for example creating a folder names mac documents within the root of the users documents and have the mac create the required desktop, documents, music etc folders within that folder. So to sum up basically we want to make the macs point to a location other than the root so that it stays nice and organised and the users don't get confused by having a folder called documents within their documents. Apologies in advance I know i'm not very good at explaining things very well. I should also mention I 'm not the best when it comes to Macs
